Nine children from Year 6 had a fantastic day at the Primary School Youth Conference, hosted by Blaby District Youth Council!

Alongside pupils from other local primary schools, they took part in engaging workshops and interactive performances led by Soundproof Box and Warning Zone. The afternoon focused on democracy, with opportunities to speak to local councillors, share their views and experience a mock vote.

We are incredibly proud of how confidently and thoughtfully our pupils represented Greenfield. 🌟

We held the first primary school Youth Conference of the Blaby District Youth Council today!

Eager year 6 pupils from 10 primary schools in the District joined us for a packed agenda.

We held a morning of workshops and interactive performances. Thank you to Soundproof Box and Warning Zone for hosting some of these.
A democratic afternoon finished the day, with discussions with councillors, and a mock voting experience.

If your child is in year 2-4 and they would like to sign up for recorder lessons with our visiting expert Miss Sophie Gray, here is the link to book lessons. Sessions come with a free recorder. 🎵🎵

Lots of parents have been enquiring about this so follow this link to book if you are interested.

Recorders are the perfect instrument for your child to start their musical journey. When played properly, they sound brilliant and everyone who heard our young performers last year commented on their gentle tone and their great performances.

Our children love learning the recorder. After a year or two they can choose to continue, or transfer to a different instrument such as flute, clarinet etc. Musical skills are very transferable, whatever the instrument. Learning an instrument also helps enormously with listening skills, coordination, focus, resilience and concentration.
At Greenfield we really value the benefits of music. There are musical opportunities for all children and these extra lessons build on the work we do in class. 🎵

A huge thank you to the more than 8,400 people who took part in our consultation on proposed term dates for the next five years.

Following your feedback, we’ll be keeping Leicestershire’s traditional term-time pattern, with schools breaking up earlier than many neighbouring areas and a one-week half term in October.

These dates apply to maintained schools. Academies set their own term dates, although many choose to follow the county’s agreed pattern.

✅ Remember to check directly with your child’s school, as each school sets its own INSET (teacher training) days.

And just like that, another year 6 residential is over. A huge thank you to our fabulous staff who commit time and energy into making the trip so fabulous. They will have a well deserved rest over the weekend.

Thank you to our children- what a credit to our school. Anyone who finds items of clothing nut belonging to them in their case, please return on Monday.

Day 3 at Hilltop! 🦭✨

Today, the groups rotated around another brilliant selection of activities, including the seal trip to Blakeney Point, Air Jump, the assault course, Super Swing, tree climbing, the walk to Sheringham and team tasks. It’s been another action-packed day with a disco to finish off!

Another action-packed day at Hilltop! 🦭

Today, two of our groups enjoyed an amazing trip to Blakeney Point to see the seals, while the other groups took part in Air Jump, the assault course, Super Swing and a walk to Sheringham. Another brilliant day filled with adventures, new experiences and lots of happy faces!
