Leo’s learning journey…

Leo has been attending tutoring sessions for a few months now, and it has been an absolute pleasure to watch his confidence and enjoyment of learning blossom. He runs into every session with a huge smile on his face and tries his best with every task. 💫

Evie’s learning journey…

Evie’s parents contacted me in October to begin tutoring sessions following a parents’ evening. They wanted to help boost Evie’s confidence as she transitioned into Year 6. Evie demonstrates some great ideas during the sessions and always tries hard. It is a great privilege to support Evie through the practical sessions and to watch her confidence and self-belief grow each week. 💫

Samuel’s learning journey…

Samuel began his sessions in year 5 and wanted to develop more confidence and understanding of fractions.

During his time at Brickwork Mathematics, he has wowed me with his growth in confidence with tricky fraction work. The use of practical resources supported Samuel’s understanding and he is now able to apply his understanding to different problems.

Emmie’s learning journey…

Emmie began her sessions with me at the beginning of this school year. She had some great ideas and knowledge and it has been such a pleasure to help her to believe in herself.

Emmie always tries hard and the practical activities have supported her in developing more confidence with maths.

LEARNER OF THE WEEK HAS RETURNED (place Yellow STAR emoji at start and end) Ill send example on Whats app.

It’s been a little while since I last gave out my _Learner of the Week_ certificates. I paused them because I wanted to reflect on whether they were truly supporting the children and their learning journeys.

Since then, _every single student_ has been asking if they were coming back . So I asked the children for their feedback, and they all shared how much they love celebrating their own wins _and_ the wins of others in our group.

Because of that, I’ve decided to bring them back and start sharing my amazing students’ individual journeys 💛

This week’s _Learner of the Week_ award goes to **Ava** 🌟
Ava has absolutely wowed me with her determination this year in Year 6. She has picked up the content so well and regularly asks thoughtful questions. She also shows a fantastic attitude towards her learning, often asking for extra tasks to complete at home.

The progress and confidence you have developed throughout our journey together has completely blown me away, Ava.

It brings me so much joy to hear how the sessions support children and their confidence.
Many students join Brickwork Mathematics with low self esteem towards maths and lack confidence.
I often find as children go through the years at school, they begin to doubt themselves. This can come from challenging homework, tricky tests, low assessment scores or feeling behind in class.

I look at each individual’s needs, strengths and interests when they join Brickwork Mathematics and it is also lovely to see how quickly they develop their confidence. I love that I am able to support children and bring joy to maths learning.

I love using engaging and real life objects with children.

Using Lego this week at Brickworkmathematics has been a huge hit.

It has provided opportunity to explore, multiplication, fractions, angles, and area this week.

We love a theme at Brickwork Mathematics.

With my younger classes this week, we explored the story of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears.

The children were very engaged and enjoyed using my support resources to explore key measure and size vocabulary.

We explored how to use comparative words such as taller than and shorter than as often children over rely on words such as big and small.

The children loved using the interactive pieces to order the characters and chairs by size.

They also began to explore how to measure each item using centimetre cubes. This was also a great way to practise counting and applying one to one correspondence, too.

There is just one space left in my Keystage 1 group. The sessions are always led through hands-on and play like activities to explore early maths skills. The sessions are also shorter than my Keystage 2 classes.
