World Robot Olympiad UK

With a new project like World Robot Olympiad we rely on lovely people offering their help. Truro High School for Girls are going to be hosting our first tournament in the South West of England on Saturday 13th June. A busy week of pursuing opportunities to add tournaments to the 2026 calendar but lots to the 2027 calendar and spreading our reach across the UK. Hopefully this year we’re adding Truro (south west England) and Warrington (north west England). Next year we’re already looking at adding more in the south west, Wales, South-East England, North-East England with even more to come.

New courses are coming to WRO Learn and they could make a real difference for students this season.

AI and 3D Printing are two of the most valuable skills in robotics right now. We're bringing both to our free learning platform soon.

Here in the UK, with the VEX Robotics and FIRST LEGO League seasons wrapping up we’re looking forward to some of those teams continuing their year of robotics by joining in with WRO. You can use fischertechnik or any other suitable kit. And for those of you new to robotics STEMpura.org will soon have ROBOROBO, MATRIX and Elecfreaks kit to choose from too

Happy New Year and happy new charity! STEMpura, the non-profit that was set up to deliver World Robot Olympiad in the UK, has just been granted charity status. This opens up many more opportunities for us to secure support to deliver inspirational STEM programmes to young people around these islands, regardless of their background.

2025 is the first year of STEMpura running World Robot Olympiad in the UK. We were delighted to be able to take four teams to the International Final in Singapore where they did brilliantly. We are looking forward to 2026 and hopefully many more UK teams taking part in the final and the other international events

This is Team Thistle Droid that represented the UK in the Future Innovators Senior category at the World Robot Olympiad Intentional Final in Singapore. It was their first WRO International and they did remarkably well using robotic materials they’d sourced themselves, showing how good it is that WRO had opened up to all suitable robotics kit. They were also really tenacious, having to deal with a robot that decided to be a bit temperamental
