Subtraction column method - make sure your children understand WHY carrying and borrowing must be used. Don't just tell them that they must do it, they need to understand place value in order to progress.

English is one of the hardest languages to learn. There are so many rules but spelling and using these high frequency words correctly and consistently is a MUST!

Reasoning in maths is a huge part of the curriculum and the new SATs have dedicated a whole paper to it. Discussing different ways of solving problems with your children will have a positive impact on the way they tackle them and also their reasoning skills...
