We had a good meeting in December, with lots of food, good company and an excellent speaker, James Hage, who helped us out at short notice and talked about a trip to Iceland he undertook to obtain his Scout Explorer Belt.
Happy New Year to all our members, associates, friends and social members!
The next meeting is on Wednesday 17th December, at 8.00 pm, Police HQ Enderby.
You don't have to be a member to attend our group nights so even if you can't make it tell your friends all are welcome. We look forward to seeing you.
Please feel free to bring some food to share with your fellow members. We have had a bring and share for a number of years now and we continue that tradition whenever possible, although it is not compulsory. Drinks (particularly non-alcoholic ones!) are also welcome.
Our Speaker for this meeting is a member of both the Group and the IAM - James Hage who is a Chief Scout and holds the Duke of Edinburgh Gold award. His talk will be called "A TRIP TO ICELAND". James went to Iceland a couple of years ago and became one of the first scouts in Leicestershire to be awarded the "Explorer Belt" - the highest award available in Scouting for the under 25s. Next year he (and girlfriend Sarah) are leading an expedition back to Iceland with a team of young people, who are also aiming to achieve the Explorer Belt. If you ask him nicely, he may also include pictures of some of the activities he (and Sarah!) undertake for the Scout Movement.
On this occasion, our speaker's fee will be donated to James (and Sarah) to help with the costs of returning to iceland.
This is a talk you simple you cannot miss!
The next meeting will then be held on Wednesday 21st January 2015Watch this space for further details!
