Founded in 1856, LGS Stoneygate is an independent co-educational day school in the Leicestershire countryside.

Educating ages 3–16 from Early Years to Senior School, we offer small classes, strong pastoral care and a nurturing, family-centred environment. We are located in the rural setting of Great Glen in Leicestershire. The key to our success has been our dual focus on achieving high academic standards through properly structured and resourced lesson time, whilst providing extra curricular opportunities in the performing arts, sports and other leisure activities.

🪨🔍 Year 3 became Rock Detectives last week as they explored the fascinating world of rocks!

Using their observation skills and key characteristics as clues, the children investigated and identified a range of rocks, including granite, limestone, chalk, flint and sandstone. They also discovered the three main types of rock, igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic, and learned how each is formed.

Through hands-on investigations and lively discussions, our young geologists developed their scientific vocabulary, deepened their understanding of the world around them and, most importantly, had lots of fun learning! 🌍✨

🚲 Two wheels, big smiles and growing confidence! 💚
Our new Cycling Skills Club has got off to a brilliant start, with pupils developing their cycling skills, building confidence and enjoying being active together.

Led by Miss Evans—a National Trophy Cyclo-cross competitor, former National Series road-race cyclist and proud LIV Cycling Ambassador—our young cyclists are in expert hands. Her experience, encouragement and enthusiasm make every session both fun and inspiring!

We can’t wait to see where their cycling journey takes them next. 🚴✨

🐍 Sssomething exciting slithered into Stoneygate…
We had some very special visitors at LGS Stoneygate today as Slitherin Reptiles joined our pupils for a hands-on lesson — quite literally! 🦎🐍

From meeting incredible reptiles up close to learning about their behaviours, habitats and unique characteristics, our pupils were able to bring their learning to life in a way they certainly won’t forget.

At LGS Stoneygate, we believe some of the best learning happens beyond the textbook. By creating exciting, practical experiences like these, we encourage our pupils to be curious, confident and enthusiastic learners. ✨
