Delighted to be welcoming Katy Sinnadurai producer director and choreographer of Brecon Festival Ballet for rehearsals/auditions for BFB's stunning production of The Nutcracker.

Resumé
Katy was born in London and trained at the Arts Educational School, and at Central School of Ballet. Just before graduation in 1987, she gained a contact as a corps de ballet dancer with the Bavarian State Ballet (Bayerische Staatsballett) in Munich, where she remained for three years. During this time she danced in all the major classical ballets, some modern works and operas, and toured with the company to other European cities.
On her return to London in 1990, Katy joined London City Ballet, dancing at Sadler's Wells and touring throughout the UK and abroad for the next four years. With this company, Katy danced in more productions from the classical ballet repertoire, performing a few solo roles. She particularly enjoyed the more dramatic roles, such as Lady Capulet in "Romeo and Juliet", and Emilia in "Othello".
With over 1000 performances behind her, Katy retired from the stage to bring up her family and moved to Brecon in Wales in 2000. Katy then moved into the Fitness Industry, gaining her qualifications in Group exercise and Advanced Pilates. She also gained her Diploma in Classical Ballet Teaching with distinction in 2007.
Katy now works as a Pilates teacher, choreographer and ballet teacher in Brecon. She is the Principal of Mid Wales Dance Academy, where many of her former students have gone on to train full time in ballet or musical theatre and are now working as theatre professionals.
Over the last 20 years, Katy has choreographed for over 50 local productions at Theatr Brycheiniog, including classical ballets, pantomimes, musicals and for Rachel Podger’s Brecon Baroque festival.
Katy served on the board of directors at Theatr Brycheiniog for a number of years and has worked as a guest teacher for King’s International Ballet Academy, Ballet Cymru, National Dance Company Wales, and in 2018 was invited as a guest teacher to Maine State Ballet, USA.
Katy is the co-founder and Artistic Director of Brecon Festival Ballet, a charity established to bring high quality dance and music to a rural area. The company gives the opportunity for members of the local community to work alongside professional dancers and musicians. BFB’s annual production of “The Nutcracker”is a critically-acclaimed success and BFB has also presented other productions such as Act Two of Swan Lake, “Tanio’r Ddraig” (a new creation based on Welsh Folk Songs) and in 2027 will present the premiere of Daryl Griffiths’ “Jack and the Beanstalk”.
