So after months of parts wrangling, the Hayman Vibrasonic kit is finally finished, Never going to be a minter, but it's a great kit, especially with the glorious, 24x14" bass drum, I'm looking for offers around £475, so it's very affordable. Available now with possible, UK delivery. Restored with lots of help from haymanparts.co.uk.

So the mystery, West German kit I've been restoring, turns out to be a 60's Tacton, Tactona model which in turn appears to be incredibly rare, so that's interesting. Just had a display head logo made, next the horrible, floor tom.

That's a crazy good colour match, you'd think these two had always been together, I've a floor tom on the way, but that'll need a rewrap with a similar finish as Red Silk Pearl is no longer available. It's a good start though, and have you noticed the bass drum has no tom mount? And the badge is facing the wrong way? Very curious.

It really has been a busy year so far, for snare drums, had all sorts through the doors, really has been something for everyone, and this is just a fraction of them.

Just in, the first part of a 60's Premier Olympic kit I'm restoring, I've decided not to respray the hoops as they still have original paint, and it's worth preserving. There's a 12" tom on the way, just need to locate a floor tom, if you know of one? Ideally Red Silk Pearl, but any finish would be fine.

So business has gone nuts again, not complaining, but I am knackered...

Now I love a challenge as much as the next restorer, but, this Eastern European, kit is proving to be quite the challenge. Everything is seized, over complicated and frankly baffling. The bass drum is about there now, toms next, and one is in a terrible state.

Next restoration project, a well used, 70's Pearl Maxwin snare, rare colour so worth saving. First job is to glue down some lifting ply, then edges need looking at and snare beds cutting, overall it's actually alright, under the grime.

Another battered, old Zildjian saved from the bin, going back into service on a practice kit, saves a few quid, better for the environment.

Had a Hayman hardware kind of an afternoon, it's very fiddly to clean and there's a lot to do, so I'm moving some on as is. It's fantastically well made and years ahead of its time, I've three hi hat stands, should you fancy one?
