Non-accidental injury (NAI) is an important consideration in paediatric patients presenting with inconsistent explanations for injury. 🤕

It is the responsibility of all NHS staff to safeguard children - if you suspect NAI, escalate your concerns to the most senior staff member in your area. 🚨

Oxygen Delivery Devices 🫁

This infographic is a great tool to guide you on the use of basic oxygen delivery devices, including nasal cannulae, Venturi masks and non-rebreather masks.

Last week, our paediatric simulation focussed on a scenario where a 6 month old was referred for a fluid challenge due to gastroenteritis. 💩👶

The delegates took a focussed history and examination, and when things didn’t quite add up appropriately questioned the information presented to them. 🤔

The team recognised this child’s acute deterioration was in fact due to intussusception, and began management to stabilise the patient. 🙌

Last week, one of our FY2 colleagues presented their work at TASME! 🎉

In collaborating with EM3, “The Emergency Medicine CT3 Step-Up” pilot programme saw core level trainees enrol to help them develop senior-decision-maker skills. The results were fantastic, with mean confidence increasing across all domains for all participants! 📈
