Thank you to all who attended last night's welcome event for parents/ carers of the students joining us as Year 7s. Lots of information regarding uniform, transport, and the school day but if you missed anything please get in touch.

We are very much looking forward now to the upcoming transition days where our new learners will get a full taste of life at Beauchamp.

Our Year 9 Languages students are certainly eating well in Paris but I don't think anyone expected them to go to the market, buy their ingredients, and then make the meal themselves.

It's a fantastic experience, the best way to learn the language is to immerse yourself in the culture.

We're going to be running a '9 for 9' reading challenge next year from the ALC Library. It's a book challenge designed by Creative Learning Services.

Premise is very simple - 9 different titles for year 9 students to read, review and be rewarded.

This year we have seen another huge increase in Year 8s and Year 9s borrowing fiction books from the library, let's keep this up because reading is fundamental to academic and personal progress.

"Your students are incredibly eloquent" - high praise from the BBC who visited us today to find out what a group of our 13 and 14-year-old students thought about the government's social media ban announcement.

You can hear their thoughts at 6:30pm tonight on BBC East Midlands Today!

Last week's house event was designing and creating bunting for the Lionheart Fringe Festival taking place on the 3rd July at the Cedars Academy.

Lionheart Fringe Festival aims to be a vibrant, inclusive event that celebrates creativity, diversity, and social impact.

The event will bring together the multiple themes that enrich our sense of belonging such as Pride, sustainability, art and design technology, music, drama, dance, global issues, local community engagement, and cultural inclusion.

Our Geography department certainly pick some beautiful parts of the world for fieldwork. This week our Year 10 geographers are at work in the Peak District. They measured a cross section of the wonderful River Dove and were blessed by the appearance of sunshine.
