What connects Lindy Hop and Black dance culture in the UK?

Find out in Trisha’s immersive history and culture talk – part of our weekender with Trisha Sewell and Kibble White.

Trisha will take us through the music and dance styles that helped shape British dance culture. From Lindy Hop in the wartime era through to the 80s underground Black British dance scene.

Packed with visuals, music, movement, and stories, this will be an immersive experience. Come watch, listen, remember, and perhaps recognise a few tunes and dances along the way.

Meet the band! On 31st October, Swingamathing will be playing for us at the Saturday evening social dance 🎶

As a 7-piece jazz band, they love playing for dancers and bringing that swing feeling to the dance floor. Their musical influences include Gershwin, Cole Porter, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, Peggy Lee, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie… to name just a few!

We loved dancing to them at previous Leicester Lindy Hop socials and are excited to welcome them back to Leicester.

The social dance will be held at the African Caribbean Centre LE1 0UA ACC.Leicester at 7:30pm and is part of the weekender event with Trisha Sewell and Kibble White.
