If you're interested in studying Journalism at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU), who better to hear from than someone who's completed our course?
Here are the thoughts of 2019 graduate Tyler Arthur, now an American Football journalist for several specialist sports websites.

'When I came to De Montfort University, I knew I wanted to write, but I didn't know what about. Throughout my time at the uni I learned the skills I needed to write, edit, design and to be a journalist. Alongside my course, I discovered a love for American Football, and became very involved in it.

When I started writing about a topic I was passionate about, I was able to properly realise the versatility of the skills the course had given me, and since graduating I have produced endless multimedia content on this subject for multiple websites and have made name for myself in the British American Football community with my articles and even a podcast. I also have a job as a long-term freelance editor for a company in America who produce sporting memoirs for current and retired players in the four major US sports.

When I arrived at DMU, I expected to learn how to use the skills I already had for writing, but in a more professional way. Instead, I learned how to design, format, write in different styles and edit (both language and media content) at a high standard. On top of all that I also learned media law and shorthand. As I look to continue my journey beyond graduation, I will be using the skills that I generated over my three years on the course as I start to build a career for myself.'
