Smiles of Quorn Childcare is Hiring! Join Our Wraparound Team 🌟

Our Wraparound Childcare team is growing, and we have two exciting opportunities to join our fun, friendly and passionate team, providing before and after-school childcare for children attending St Bartholomew’s C of E Primary School.

We are looking for:

🧩 Play Assistant – a caring, enthusiastic and motivated individual who is interested in childcare or early years and keen to gain valuable experience working with children, making this an ideal role for students. You’ll support free play and activities, help safely collect children from school and play an important part in creating a fun, safe and welcoming environment.

🎨 Playworker – an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our team working after school, with the ability to provide additional Breakfast Club cover when required. You’ll plan and lead engaging activities, supervise free play and support the day-to-day running of the club. A qualification in Childcare or Early Years is desirable but not essential, and for the right candidate we can offer opportunities and support to work towards a relevant qualification.

🇰🇪 Jambo from Kenya! 🦁 Today our explorers set off on a Safari Adventure! Children created safari silhouette paintings, giraffes, newspaper lions and solar eclipse boxes to watch the solar eclipse with. As it was too hot outside, they headed indoors for a fun game of dodgeball before baking safari-themed cupcakes! They also enjoyed a trip to Quorn Park with an ice cream, where they randomly bumped into PCSO Jade and PC Amelia from Charnwood Police. The children were highly engaged with a spontaneous Q&A with them—a huge thank you to both officers for their time! A wild day full of creativity and adventure! 🌿

🇪🇬 Welcome to Egypt! 🏺 On Wednesday our young explorers travelled back in time during our Pyramid Explorers adventure! Children made their own papyrus paper, Egyptian collars and pyramid crafts before enjoying football, basketball and relay races. They also took part in Pharaoh Freeze drama, baked traditional Kahk biscuits and finished the day building dens in Forest School. An ancient adventure full of discovery! 🌞

🇧🇷 Olá from Brazil! 🎭 Today we celebrated the vibrant spirit of Brazil with our Carnival Craze! Children created colourful parrots, paper chain snakes and carnival masks before enjoying tag rugby, table tennis and capture the flag. They learnt energetic samba dance moves, made delicious brigadeiros and cooled off with a trip to Quorn Park for an ice lolly. The carnival atmosphere was in full swing! 🎉

🇺🇸 Hello from the USA! ⭐ Our All-American Adventure was packed with excitement as children made American flag crafts, handprint eagles and colourful fireworks artwork. They also enjoyed basketball, rounders and dodgeball, learnt a cheerleading routine, baked classic New York-style chocolate chip cookies and finished the day with a trip to Quorn Park for an ice cream. 🇫🇷 Bonjour from France! 🗼 Monday our Summer World Tour 2026 got off to a fantastic start with a Parisian Adventure! Children got creative making stained glass window art, colourful Eiffel Towers and torn paper Mona Lisa pictures, before keeping active with football, basketball and dodgeball. They also enjoyed some hilarious mime games, baked delicious French chocolate twists and finished the day with a trip to Quorn Park for a refreshing ice lolly. A brilliant first stop on our journey around the world! ✈️

🌍✈️ Tomorrow our Holiday Club returns for Summer 2026, and this year's Around the World Tour begins with our first stop... France! 🇫🇷 We can't wait to get started and have so many exciting activities planned for the weeks ahead! ☀️

At Smiles, our ethos is all about choice and variety. We're not just a sports camp or a craft camp – children choose how they spend their day from six different activity themes, with over 150 adult-led activities planned across the next four weeks. Wow, what an emotional, fun-filled, and busy final week we’ve had! As the school year comes to a close, our Smiles family have been celebrating 🎉
Here’s a little look at what we've been up to:

🎈 Leavers Parties: We danced, played games, and made the absolute most of our final days together this term.

👋 Bittersweet Goodbyes: We officially said goodbye to our amazing Year 6 leavers as they head off to high school, as well as a few of our lovely friends who are moving on to new schools. We are so proud of you all and will miss you incredibly much! Once a part of the Smiles family, always a part of the Smiles family. 💖

🌟 Looking Forward: The children spent time setting some brilliant goals and wishes for the next school year. The future is looking bright!

🍦 Friday Treats: We wrapped up the entire week today the best way we know how—with cool, refreshing ice lollies to celebrate the start of the summer holidays!

Thank you to all of our wonderful parents and carers for your incredible support this year. And to our amazing children—thank you for bringing so much joy, laughter, and smiles every single day.

Happy Father’s Day 💙 This week the children enjoyed creating special crafts and gifts for the important people in their lives. They made photo frames, decorated shirt and tie cards, created handprint trophies, and designed fun handprint monsters 🎨 We hope all the dads, grandads, stepdads, carers and special father figures enjoy their handmade surprises and have a wonderful Father’s Day ✨
