What does “analyse the quote” actually mean?
It’s one of the most common things students are told to do in GCSE English but knowing how to analyse a quotation is a skill that needs to be developed.
A stronger response goes beyond explaining what the quote says. Students need to:
→ Pick out important words or phrases
→ Explain what those words suggest
→ Link them to the character, theme or writer’s message
That difference can turn a basic response into a much stronger piece of analysis.
At Bright Learning Tuition Hub, we help students build these skills step by step and apply them confidently in their GCSE English work.
