🎵 Leicester & Leicestershire Early Years Music Network 🎵

Calling all early years practitioners and artists working with 2 to 5-year-olds!

Join us on Tuesday 29 September for an inspiring, hands-on music-making session with Eleanor Rashid, a multifaceted British-Pakistani singer, songwriter and musician.

Discover fresh ways to diversify music-making across genres while supporting children's singing, rhythm, language development and creativity.

Drawing on her research into rap music, multi-sensory play and "one song, a hundred ways", Eleanor will share practical approaches to help you move beyond rigid routines and bring more joy, flexibility and inclusivity into your EYFS music practice.

✨ Explore new ideas for music-making
✨ Develop confidence in using a wider range of musical styles
✨ Take away simple, memorable tools and resources you can use immediately in your setting

We’re now on Creative Rest ✨

For us, this is about caring for the people behind the work and making space to reset after a busy, brilliant festival. It’s something we’re continuing to learn, alongside others across the arts sector.

The Spark Festival reminded us what’s possible when children are audiences, makers and leaders. Taking time now helps us keep doing that really well.

“So special. So memorable.”
“Our twins’ first theatre experience… magical.”

This is how families described The Spark Festival 2026 and it says so much about what this year meant across Leicester 💛

Thousands of people joined us across the city. Children experienced theatre for the first time, families spent time playing and exploring together, and young people stepped forward as makers, performers and leaders.

“My 15 month old daughter loved it and her confidence grew throughout.”

Work like this takes care, time and a lot of people bringing their energy. Artists, freelancers, staff and partners, often working behind the scenes across the arts sector, there’s a growing understanding that rest matters too.

So for the second year, we’ll be taking a short Creative Rest (22–27 July).

Small Wonders is all about creative play, storytelling and letting children lead, with parents right alongside them.
