Pupils across some of our schools took a moment to share their appreciation with short messages of gratitude, recognising the impact, guidance and care their teacher has shown them throughout the year 🌟

To make this moment even more special, they presented a hand-made card filled with their kind words ✍️

Thank you to all of our teachers and teaching staff for making a positive difference today and every day ✨

We’re celebrating 2 award-winning schools! 🎉

Congratulations to Kibworth Mead Academy and Kestrel Mead Primary Academy who have both received Pearson National Teaching Awards for teaching excellence!

This is the second consecutive year that Kibworth Mead has received the accolade. Principal, Steve Piggot, says: “This award recognises the hard work and dedication of our fantastic staff who make such a positive difference. I also want to thank all of our students, families, members of our local community, and The Mead Educational Trust for their help and support, without which this recognition would not have been possible."

Meanwhile, the recognition places Kestrel Mead among a very small number of schools nationally to be recognised by the Pearson National Teaching Awards. Principal, Zoe Simpson, says: “It is a tremendous honour and reflects the dedication of our entire community. Everything we do is driven by our commitment to our children and families. Knowing that we are truly living our ABC motto - Achieving Excellence, Belonging and Creating Equity - fills us with immense pride. Our students are incredible. They inspire us every day, and this recognition reinforces our belief that together we are providing the strongest possible start in life.”

Meet our Mead schools! 👋

This week, we're looking at Fosse Mead Primary Academy - a truly global school, where children and families from all over the world join together to learn and grow. At the heart of the school is a love of reading, helping pupils to develop the confidence and knowledge they need to succeed both in the classroom and beyond. Alongside a strong focus on academic learning, pupils also enjoy incredible sporting opportunities (including some of the best skipping skills we've ever seen!) and enrichment experiences.

Fosse Mead is a place where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential and feel a true sense of belonging.

This week, we have been shining a light on the volunteers who made a positive impact across our Trust 💡

At Kibworth Mead Academy, the valuable support of volunteers has been momentous at various school events such as:

🌟 The Reading Buddies Programme that helped strengthen students’ reading skills

🌟 An art competition where Four members of the local Rotary Club took the time out to volunteer as judges

🌟 A Speed Networking day for Year 9 students to gain an insight about their careers in the future

'It was good to meet new people and find out about their jobs...'' - student in Year 9

Thank you! 👏

At our TMET schools, we are committed to strengthening parental engagement and building meaningful partnerships with families 🤝

Fosse Mead Primary Academy held a successful ‘Meet the Team’ event, giving parents and guardians the opportunity to learn more about the support available for their child 🗣️

Mrs Hussey, Principal at the primary school, is pleased to introduce a newly-formed pastoral team, who will work closely with families to ensure that their child has the best possible opportunity to succeed through all stages of school and life 😊

We captured a short video of the event 📹

If you’ve tuned into BBC news today, you may have seen Sara McAdam, Director of The Mead Institute, talking about the new ways that we’re trying to attract and retain teachers.

Sara, along with staff at North Mead academy, appeared on BBC Breakfast, BBC Radio 4 Today and BBC News programmes as the government revealed that the school workforce has shrunk for the first time since 2019.

At our Leicester & Leicestershire SCITT, we’re focusing on ways to make teacher training more accessible, inclusive, flexible, and compatible with people’s real lives - whether they’re a parent, late stage career changer, or recent graduate. As an organisation, we’re also focusing on improving flexibility for teachers in our schools.

Leicester pupils' upcycling scheme helps lower cost of prom 04/06/2026

We're so proud of students and staff at Brook Mead Academy for this brilliant solution to creating affordable and sustainable prom outfits! 👏

Students came up with idea of asking their local community, including local businesses, to donate outfits that can be hired by students and altered to fit them perfectly. The outfits will then be returned so that they can be used by students again in future years. 💡
