In Science last week 3HW investigated rock erosion using felt tips and sugar cubes. Today we have been identifying fossils. Ottilie brought in some fascinating fossils, discovered on a beach, while on a family holiday. It was exciting to hold them and have a close look.

Following our visits to Stoneygate Baptist Church and St John’s church we made comparisons about how each church celebrates the sacrament of Holy Communion. To complete our work on the concept of salvation we designed our own celebration that Christians could follow to remember Jesus’ sacrifice. Which do you think you’d like to try?

In Class 3AM, this week we started a new topic in English on Charlie and the chocolate factory! In our first unit we will be writing a character description. Today we wrote expanded noun phrases to describe the appearance of W***y Wonka (and we drew him!)

Last week we started work on our new text for English, Holes, by Louis Sachar. We began by digging holes and thinking about what Camp Green Lake would have looked like.

The Tigerellas have been identifying and sorting materials in Science this week. We looked at different types of materials and how we could sort, or classify them into two different groups, such as ‘hard’ or ‘soft’; ‘waterproof’ or ‘not waterproof’.

We have been learning about ‘mass’ in Maths this week. We used the scales to compare different objects and describe whether the mass of one object was equal to, more, or less than the mass of another.
