The Library will be closed on Christmas Day (25 December 2025), Boxing Day (26 December 2025) and New Year's Day (1 January 2026).
Other than the days above the Library will remain open 24 hours throughout the Christmas period from 24 December 2025 and 4 January 2026.
Specific Library closure times
The library will be closed between 9.00pm on the 24 December 2025 and reopen at 8.00am on the 27 December 2025
The library will be closed between 9.00pm on the 31 December 2025 and reopen at 8.00am on the 2 January 2026
Staffed services
Library staffed services will end at 5.00pm on 23 December 2024 and resume at 8.00am on 5 January 2026.
During this time University Security will be present instead.
Other services
Archives and Special collections, and the Centre for Academic Achievement will be closed between 24 December 2024 up to and including 4 January 2025.Â
Normal services will resume on Monday 5 January 2026.

The event will take place in the Careers Hub( from 13.00pm) and the Library Exhibition Zone (from 11am)
Publishers and providers coming to the event include Libby/overdrive, Adan Matthew Digital, Gale/Cengage, Sage publishing, Cambridge University Press and Wiley.

It's World Digital Preservation Day today , with a theme of 'Why Preserve?'
Take a look at the results of our recently finished digital preservation project which aimed to gather and preserve material relating to the discovery and identification of Richard III.Â

The University is proud to take part in Ukrainian Culture Week (3rd-9th November 2025), a national initiative led by the Cormack Consultancy Group, bringing together UK universities and their Ukrainian twinning partners to celebrate and share Ukrainian culture.
To celebrate Ukrainian Culture Week, the library has worked with staff at Poltava State Agrarian University to create a specially curated collection of translated Ukrainian literature, featuring novels, short stories and poetry.
Head to the Reading Lounge on the ground floor of the library to discover our new collection!
