It’s Wednesday again so time to meet another one of my dancers ! This is Emma, she hasn’t been coming to classes for long but is very much part of the group, it’s been lovely to see her settle in class and develop in her dancing. She has written some lovely words which made me quite emotional… the truth is you never know how dance can be such a powerful thing in people’s lives 💖💖🩰
I started dance classes at the age of 3, and pretty much never stopped! I went on to study dance at uni, then taught dance in primary schools until covid. I went into childcare and started assisting at a dance school for a few years until having to stop to focus on my family and mental health.
I had been looking at Ginnette’s classes for a while, but never had the confidence to go back to dancing after so long off, until setting a goal for myself during a short course of therapy to get back to doing one thing just for me that I enjoy. I finally pushed myself to try a class and realised that during that time my brain wasn’t going 100 miles an hour. (Partly because my body was trying to figure out what on earth it was doing!)
Ginnette is a wonderful teacher, so attentive and thorough in how she teaches us. The class is so welcoming and supportive and just a lovely, wholesome environment. Dance has always made my heart happy, both watching it and dancing myself, so with working in childcare alongside having an energetic almost 3 year old son, having an hour a week where all I have to think about is ballet is so healing for my brain and my soul 😌
Thank you so much Emma, so happy you have joined my classes 💖
