🌊 6 WEEKS OF WATER SKILLS STARTS HERE! 🛶

Our first session of six3 weeks on the water has begun – and what a great start! 🙌

Before we even got near the water, our young people took responsibility for their own safety. They put on their own buoyancy aids and checked each other’s safety – teamwork, independence and good habits from the very beginning. 👏

Then it was time for a quick warm-up… and the big question:

What skills have you already got? 🤔🌊

Let’s see what everyone can do, build confidence, learn from each other and have lots of fun along the way!

Six weeks. New skills. New challenges. Plenty of time on the water. 💙

🌿 WHAT WILL YOU DISCOVER OUTSIDE? 🔥

Our Family Bushcraft sessions are back from Monday 14th September! 🎉

Every other Monday, we’ll be opening up the outdoors for curious minds, with a safe and supportive space to play, explore, experiment and learn.
No two sessions need to be the same! Each week brings new opportunities to discover bushcraft, explore nature, make things, try new skills and simply enjoy being outside. 🌳

🪢🌿 WHEN IS A KNOT NOT A KNOT? 🌿

When it’s the WRONG knot for the job! 😂

Friday Home Ed was all about getting tangled up in learning as we discovered that choosing the right knot really matters.

🪢 From securing loads to building structures, every knot has a job to do!
But we didn’t stop there… 👀
🏕️ We practised lashings
🗼 Built and secured our very own pioneering watch towers
🛶 And got stuck into raft building!

There was plenty of problem-solving, teamwork, testing, tweaking… and the occasional “WHO TIED THAT?!” 🤣
Because outdoor learning isn’t just about knowing how to tie a knot — it’s about understanding why, working together and figuring things out when your first attempt doesn’t quite go to plan.

Who knew getting tied up in knots could be so much fun?! 💚🌿

🔥🏠 CAN WE TRAVEL BACK TO 2ND SEPTEMBER 1666? 🏠🔥

Yesterday, we did exactly that!

Our London’s Burning Home Education day took us back 360 years to the Great Fire of London — but we didn’t just read about history…

We smelt it. We felt it. We tested it. 🔥👃👐
We explored how the fire started and why it spread so quickly through the narrow, wooden streets of London. The young people built their own houses and then experienced just how quickly fire could travel from one building to the next.

We looked at how the fire changed London and became escape planners, thinking about how people could have fled the flames.

And where better to plan an escape by water than the River Soar? 🛶🌊

After getting back and drying off, we stepped into the world of Samuel Pepys, using homemade bread and his diary to bring the sights, smells and experiences of 1666 to life.

History wasn't something we simply learned about today.
We stepped into it. 🔥

Because sometimes the best way to learn is to experience it for yourself. 🌿🛶
