🌟 Year 5 PSHE: Exploring Commitment! 💛
This week in PSHE, Year 5 have been learning all about commitment and how we can show commitment to the people we love, as well as to ourselves.
The children came up with some fantastic ideas about how families can show commitment to one another, including:
🏡 Spending quality time together
🌱 Gardening as a family
🍽️ Eating meals together
🚶‍♀️ Going for walks
🎲 Playing and enjoying activities together
💬 Supporting and caring for one another
We then explored how commitment can also be shown through religious ceremonies, such as marriage, and discussed how these ceremonies can represent love, promises and commitment between people.
💪 We also thought about how we can show commitment to ourselves. The children discussed the importance of perseverance, not giving up when things are difficult, setting goals, practising and believing in themselves.
It was wonderful to hear the thoughtful ideas and mature discussions the children shared. They showed a great understanding that commitment is about caring, making an effort, keeping promises and persevering, even when things are challenging.

Our Year 5 scientists have been investigating reversible and irreversible changes! They explored which changes can be undone and which create a new material and cannot easily be reversed. Through practical investigations, pupils made observations, discussed their predictions and used scientific vocabulary to explain what was happening. 🧠✨ A fantastic hands-on lesson full of curiosity, teamwork and discovery! 🌟

🎶🌴 Music Learning: Body Percussion! 👏
have been immersed in an exciting block of music learning, exploring the possibilities of body percussion and discovering how rhythm, structure texture and movement can bring a composition to life.

The children began by creating a collaborative composition inspired by the sounds of a tropical storm🌿🌧️. The children then built on their learning to compose and perform their own individual and group body percussion pieces, making thoughtful choices about rhythm, dynamics and performance.

Children also had opportunities to appraise and respond to each other’s work, demonstrating fantastic oracy and reflective skills as they shared ideas, celebrated successes and offered constructive feedback. 🗣️👏

It has been wonderful to see the children grow in confidence as composers, performers and reflective musicians! 🎵✨

🌍 Year 5 Geography Field Trip! 📸
Year 5 had a fantastic time exploring our local area as part of their geography fieldwork lesson! 🗺️
The children investigated the local environment, collecting data about noise pollution and identifying a range of human and physical features. They worked together to record their findings and even took photographs to help document what they discovered. 📷
It was wonderful to see the children putting their geographical skills into practice, observing their surroundings and asking thoughtful questions about the area around them. 🌳🏘️Well done, Year 5!
