The children have been developing their early writing skills through dot-to-dot word activities — carefully joining the dots to form letters and simple words.

This type of activity supports pencil control, letter recognition, and confidence in mark-making, all while making learning feel fun and achievable.

It’s wonderful to see the children taking pride in their work as their writing skills continue to grow. ✨

To celebrate Recycling Day, the children transformed everyday materials into their very own puppets. Using items that might usually be thrown away, they designed, decorated, and brought their creations to life.

This activity encouraged imaginative thinking, problem-solving, and conversations about how we can reuse materials and care for our environment.

It was fantastic to see so many unique ideas and characters come together, showing just how creative children can be with a little inspiration. 🌍

🦷✨ Brushing Our Teeth ✨🦷

Recently, the children have been learning about the importance of keeping our teeth clean and healthy.

Using toothbrushes and toothpaste, they carefully brushed away the marks from our large tooth pictures and talked about why we brush our teeth every morning and before bed. We had some lovely conversations about visiting the dentist, healthy foods and how to look after our smiles 😁

The children enjoyed taking turns and helping one another as they practised brushing each tooth.

Developing good habits from an early age helps children feel confident and independent, and we certainly had lots of sparkling smiles during this activity 💚

From wearing red to getting involved in themed crafts and activities, it was lovely to see everyone joining in and learning about the importance of helping others.

Moments like this encourage kindness, sharing, and an early understanding of how we can make a positive difference, even in small ways. ❤️

🌿 Exploring Habitats 🌿

Recently, the children have been exploring different animal habitats through a hands-on discovery tray.

Using natural materials like sticks, sand and leaves, they created their own little worlds for woodland creatures and birds. We talked about where animals live, what they might need to survive and how different habitats provide food, shelter and safety. 🐦🪵

The children loved searching through the tray, building nests and matching animals to the environments they belong in. There were lots of thoughtful conversations and imaginative ideas as they explored together.

Learning about the world around us helps children develop curiosity, care and respect for nature 🌍💚

🥞 Pancake Day Fun at Pippins! 🥞

What a flipping fantastic day we’ve had celebrating Pancake Day! 😊

Our children enjoyed exploring all things pancakes through sensory play and creative activities. From scooping and sieving flour to mixing, whisking and counting ingredients, there was lots of hands-on learning taking place. We talked about numbers, textures and even practised our fine motor skills as we carefully painted our very own pancakes 🎨

The children loved choosing their favourite toppings and using bright colours to create delicious designs. It was wonderful to see such focus, creativity and teamwork around the table.

Learning through play is what we do best, and today was filled with smiles, exploration and a little bit of (imaginary!) mess 🥄✨
