🛑 An important post... 👇🏻

Yesterday, we hosted a webinar discussing the important and highly topical question: “Should school websites remove pictures of children?”

This issue came to our attention after a significant amount of schools contacted our support team last week requesting the urgent removal of all pupil imagery from their websites. Concerns were heightened following a recent article in Guardian which reported a school being targeted after images from their website were manipulated by a hacker and used in a ransom attempt.

As concerns grow around AI-generated misuse of children’s photographs, schools across the UK are reviewing how pupil imagery is used online. In response to this emerging safeguarding challenge, School Jotter has developed an AI Image Bank created specifically for schools. Other options include aerial drone videography alongside cartoon generated imagery which seems to be on the rise.

Yesterday’s webinar brought together more than 50+ schools to explore the risks surrounding AI, safeguarding considerations and provide practical options for moving forward. It was a valuable discussion, although it’s unfortunate that the topic needs to be discussed at all.
