The University often plays host to some great speakers, for example last year there was a fantastic talk from Ian Kershaw, one of the most prominent historians on Hi**er and N**i Germany. Yesterday, there was a talk given by Holocaust survivor Hannah Lewis, organised by the Jewish Society, to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. A great event, and you can expected similar events like this if you choose to come to Leeds.

Studying Abroad with Leeds Uni... 07/01/2014

I have had quite a few people at our Open Days asking about the opportunities to study abroad with us. So, one of our current IHP students on a year abroad, Joe, has written a short piece on his feelings after his first semester studying in America at North Carolina State University. I will hopefully have a few more students writing about their experiences soon as well. Enjoy.

If you went to one of the talks at the Open Day, then you will have heard about his great website. It includes contributions from Leeds tutors as well. Hopefully it will come in use in the next couple of months.

There are also videos about studying history at university as well.

IHP Third Year 16/12/2013

An article I wrote about the most exciting year of a history degree, third year. It may seem like it would be a long, long way away, but it's just something to think about when considering your degree. Your interests now probably won't be the same in three years time, but take a look at what we offer for the most important year of your degree and see if anything takes your fancy!

IHP Third Year Your third is when you become specialised, and undertake the pinnacle of your degree: the dissertation. This is the change to investigate your interests further with this year-long project. You als...

Here is the link for the newly updated course structure which will come into force for the next academic year, the main restructuring comes in the 2nd year. Currently, students have 5 compulsory modules in 2nd year and only one elective. From next year, the proposed structure is that students will have 2 compulsory modules, (Documents and Debates and the IHP Long Essay); then you will get to choose 3 optional modules from a new range of modules; and then finally you will get to choose 1 elective module, which can choose in any department.
