🎉 WELCOME BACK TO COLLEGE! 🎉

We’re so excited to welcome all our Preparation for Adulthood students back to college for the 2026/27 academic year!

📅 Monday 14th September 2026 marks the start of the new academic year, and we can’t wait to see everyone back, ready for another year of learning, developing new skills and making memories together! 🌟

📚 INDUCTION DAY REMINDER 📚
Before the new academic year officially begins, students are also invited into college for an induction day during the week commencing Monday 7th September.

🕙 Time: 10:00am–2:00pm📅 Students have been allocated one induction day, depending on which Tier group they are in.

Parents/carers have already been contacted with the relevant induction information. Please remember that students will need to make their own way into college for induction day only.

Induction is a great opportunity for students to meet staff, reconnect with friends, familiarise themselves with the college environment and get ready for the year ahead. 😊
We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back and making 2026/27 our best year yet! 💜

See you soon! 👋🎓

During Learning Disability Week, our students celebrated the power of hobbies, friendship and trying something new at our annual Foundation Festival! 💜

This year's theme, Hobbies, encouraged students to explore new interests and discover activities they enjoy. From meeting horses and reptiles, getting creative with pottery, experiencing hair and beauty, taking part in sports, enjoying ice cream, and so much more, there was something for everyone to get involved in. 🐴🦎🎨⚽🍦

We were also incredibly proud of our football team, who represented us brilliantly at the Aspire Football Tournament, reaching the semi-finals through outstanding teamwork, determination and sportsmanship. 👏⚽

It was a fantastic week celebrating inclusion, building confidence, and showing that everyone deserves the opportunity to discover hobbies they love and create lasting memories. Well done to all of our amazing students! 💙

🌡️CLOSED🌡️

Following the recent period of extreme heat, we have made the decision to temporarily close the college to students on Friday 26th June.

High temperatures within parts of the campus environment have impacted the comfort and learning conditions of our pupils, and their wellbeing remains our top priority.

We appreciate the understanding and support of our students, parents, carers, and staff during this time.

✨Exciting Update! ✨

We’re pleased to announce that our department name and social media pages have officially changed from Foundation Studies to Preparation for Adulthood.

This new name better reflects the purpose of our department and the incredible work we do in supporting learners to develop the skills, confidence, independence, and experiences they need for adult life 🌟

While our name has changed, our commitment to empowering and supporting our students remains exactly the same. We look forward to continuing to share our learners’ achievements, opportunities, and successes with you under our new identity 😊

Recently, we welcomed newly appointed Luminate CEO Bill Jones to campus for a special Q&A session with our students.🎤

In a format inspired by An Audience With, students took the lead, asking Bill their own questions and finding out more about his role, experiences and life outside of work. The session sparked some great conversations, plenty of curiosity and lots of smiles along the way.☺️

A huge thank you to Bill for taking the time to engage so openly with our students and make the visit such a memorable experience.💜

A huge congratulations to our T2 Work Skills students who successfully completed the BEAM Project delivered by KIER Construction!🎉

Throughout the programme, students gained valuable employability skills and industry insight through a range of exciting activities, including a careers carousel with local employers, a site visit to Leeds Town Hall, a CV workshop with Hayes Recruitment, and mock interviews with KIER professionals 👩‍💼👨‍💼

The project concluded with a presentation recognising their achievements, followed by a fantastic tour of Elland Road Stadium.🏟️

We are incredibly proud of the confidence, professionalism, and commitment shown by all. Experiences like these help prepare our students for their future careers and inspire them to aim high. 👏

Our students recently took part in a Health MOT at the Hamara Centre, where they had their blood pressure, height, weight and BMI checked. 😷🩸

This experience linked closely to their health pathway focus this term, providing a valuable opportunity to learn more about the importance of healthy lifestyle choices and how they can positively impact overall wellbeing. 💪

A huge thank you to the team at Hamara Healthy Living Centre for delivering this session and supporting our students in developing their knowledge, understanding and awareness of health and wellbeing. 💜
