Back to school is often about new shoes and new uniform. For me it’s all about new music. I’ve had a great playlist of new music to listen to over the summer with tunes chosen by pupils who want to take exams in the next academic year. Then another playlist of other music ideas for pupils not taking exams or who have not yet chosen their exam pieces. Very excited to get playing these new tunes with my pupils this week.

A fantastic day of live music already at Horsforth Walk of Art . Started with a brilliant saxophone quintet . Then listened to the genius that is who asked audience members to suggest a tune and then a style and he improvised based on audience suggestions. Then on to an hour of excellent music from Band in a Hut outside the lovely .

Some live music to finish off the Easter holidays and inspire my teaching for the summer term from Hackney Colliery Band. I like the choreography ideas. I said to my Year 13 saxophone pupils that we need some choreography for our end of year concert!
