Had fun playing at the North Leeds Charity Beer Festival this weekend.

A fantastic evening watching the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain perform at Bridgewater Hall. A phenomenal performance.

All set up for an afternoon concert for my grade 4-6 adult pupils at my home. A lovely opportunity to meet other adults who are learning the flute and a safe place to practise performing. Followed by tea and cake!

For any of my pupils aged 11-18 who are playing a wind instrument at grade 6+ standard.

We are delighted to share with you that applications are now open for the auditions for all instruments for the City of Leeds Youth Orchestra and the City of Leeds Youth Wind Orchestra for September 2026.
Auditions will be held on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June 2026.
The auditions are open to all secondary students aged between 11 and 18 years old (You must be at or starting secondary school in September 2026), so please do share this with anyone you know who may be interested and meets the required criteria. (Generally, you must be approximately grade 6 and above).

* UPDATE - Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control, the flute course will not be going ahead in 2026. We apologise for anyone who was planning to attend. The clarinet and saxophone courses are going ahead as usual with lots of people already having reserved their places. We're excited for a great week of music ahead. We are already planning the courses for 2027 and look forward to the return of the flute course.

Lots of inspiration for my teaching today 1) from meeting staff and finding out what Leeds Junior Conservatoire has to offer to my pupils, 2) networking with other teachers and sharing ideas and now 3) watching the Brit Awards and hearing which songs I haven’t taught yet.
