ADVANCED ORCHESTRAL WORKSHOP - SATURDAY 4th JULY
On Saturday 4th July we'll be holding an orchestral workshop at St Margaret's Church for more advanced players, based around Beethoven's Symphony no. 7.
The day is aimed at brass, string and woodwind players at an intermediate to advanced level (we may also have room for a percussionist or two!). Players will work in sections with guidance from our tutors throughout the day, focussing on movements 2 and 3 and aiming for an informal sharing of this in the afternoon. We will also have a go at movements 1 and 4, if time allows. The workshop is aimed at those who would like to ‘have a go’ at a challenging but fun Beethoven symphony, in a friendly and supportive setting, without the pressure of a formal performance..
The cost is £10 and the form to sign up is here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmb1Ky0d69urIecO6IqIrKZTlw-7K_i5Ry2eURVuL4OVTUzQ/viewform

LEARN RECORDER AT HORSFORTH MUSIC CENTRE!
If you have a young child who wants to learn an instrument, the recorder is a fantastic place to start. It's a cheap, accessible instrument that almost anyone can learn in a short time. No need to worry about strings, reeds or annoying keyboard demo tunes - just pick up and play! Many children who have learnt music on a recorder at a young age find it much easier to then progress to other instruments later on.
Our Beginner Recorder class runs from 9am to 9.30 every Saturday, and is taking on new pupils at the moment. If you would like to give it a try, please fill in our enrolment form at https://leeds.eepos.fi/ #/forms/2498, or drop us a line at [email protected].

Question for those of you who use our cafe - would you be interested if we were to start offering filter coffee as well as instant? It would cost a little more, but we have a machine so would be happy to offer it if there's the interest.

CALLING ALL WOODWIND TUTORS AND ENSEMBLE LEADERS!
We are seeking to appoint two skilled and experienced woodwind tutors to start in January 2026, including an opportunity to lead our Concert Band.
The two roles are as follows:
- Post 1: three saxophone groups (beginner, continuation and ensemble), a small classical woodwind ensemble and some 1:1 tuition
- Post 2: conducting our Concert Band (predominantly adults), teaching a theory class and number of 1:1 pupils.
We may re-arrange the way the work is split across the two roles, depending on the skillset of the individuals appointed. However, it would be broadly useful to be familiar with the entire woodwind instrument family.
Pay is on a salaried term-time only basis, spread out evenly across 12 months. As an hourly rate, this works out at approximately £23-£25 per hour of teaching.
You can apply at https://ce0992li.webitrent.com/ce0992li_webrecruitment/wrd/run/etrec179gf.open?WVID=04238200UO&LANG=USA&VACANCY_ID=491238Da0m until December 17th - for more information, please contact [email protected] or call Mark on 07545 603 953.
