Registered with Ofsted Early Years, Bright Beginnings Childcare Centre accommodates up to 168 children aged between 3 months and 5 years. We also operate a Playscheme during school holidays for children aged between 3 and 12 years. The centre is classed as a private setting and is a satellite, subsidiary company of the University of Leeds. Bright Beginnings caters for staff and students children o

f the University. Bright Beginnings was inspected by Ofsted on March 30th 2016 and we were delighted to be awarded an Outstanding grade in all areas of the inspection. At Bright Beginnings Childcare Centre, children have the opportunity to grow within a caring, secure and stimulating environment. Offering space and time for children to explore and discover the world around them, providing opportunities for children to take controlled and calculated ‘risks’. Our children come from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and beliefs and this is reflected in our respect for each individual child and the way in which the Centre is managed. The Centre was given the title of an “inclusive setting” by SCOPE in January 2016. Our children are given praise and encouragement to develop their self-esteem within an atmosphere where they feel secure, valued and loved. We want our children to be confident and develop a sense of achievement through exploring and discovering, learning through experiences that are pleasurable and rewarding. Children participate in a range of activities which take due account their developing physical intellectual, emotional and social abilities. Children are encouraged to think and talk about their learning and develop self-control and independence. There are appropriate periods of time for learning through sustained involvement in concentrated activity. Our children are encouraged to establish effective relationships with peers, adults and be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others. We encourage an interest in learning by providing varied activities and having a range of toys and equipment available for children to choose from. Self-help and social skills are developed through adult interaction and support. Children are encouraged to discuss their experiences and activities undertaken at the centre. Practitioners will observe and assess children following the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. Bright Beginnings Childcare Centre Leeds is an exempt charity and company limited by guarantee. Today we welcomed a group of aspiring Early Years educators from Leeds City College to Bright Beginnings, where we showcased our staff, facilities, curriculum and practice.

Congratulations to all the students who are due to gain their level 3 qualifications in Early Years Education in the next few months, it was great to meet you today and share our company values.

We're excited to welcome back some of you to potentially start your Early Years career with us at Bright Beginnings!

This week we launched our Arty Beginnings Project and introduced our Grasshoppers and Dragonflies to our chosen piece of art 'M62 East, West' by Mike Nelson.

As a group, we examined photographs of the piece, discussing its appearance, texture, and the materials used. The children were eager to share their observations, commenting on the visible textures and the way the materials were assembled.

This discussion inspired us to create our own interpretations of the artwork by using circular motions with paint, forming patterns with round loose items, and painting rubber materials such as tyres!

This week brings the launch of our Arty Beginnings Project, 8th year running!

Working in collaboration with Leeds Art Gallery, we are proud to share the children's choice of Art for this year is M62 (East, West) by Mike Nelson.

M62 (East, West) consists of two nearly identical sculptures designed to be viewed together or in separately, creating a sense of déjà vu and encouraging a 'spot the difference' style of close observation.
