It's been a fun start to the half-term at Free Spirits! Yesterday, the children baked bread for Real Bread Week. We talked about the difference between shop-bought and homemade bread, and they all enjoyed bread tasting!
The older children were also very happy with the new glockenspiels for music and enjoyed learning to play them.
Today, they were very excited to see their crystals that had been growing over the half-term holiday. We also started our Four Elements topic, learned about renewable and nonrenewable natural resources, and made movable diggers.
We're looking forward to next week already!

We've had a great time at Free Spirits this week. Yesterday, we read "The Scarecrow's Wedding", and the children made a scarecrow craft.
Today, we continued our Traditional Tales-themed STEM activities. We read "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," and the children designed and constructed a bed for Goldilocks, considering how to strengthen joints.
We also presented the CREST Star Award certificates that the children had worked towards over the last half term, and it was lovely to see how proud they were of their achievement.
We'll be back again next week for more fun!

We were so busy at the end of term, we didn't get a chance to post any photos!
In the last three weeks of our Thursday sessions, the children painted Kandinsky concentric style circles, read Malala's Magic Pencil and did their own magic pencil drawings, and baked holiday-inspired buns.
Our STEM sessions saw the end of our "My Brilliant Body" topic, with the children learning about lungs and testing out their lung capacity, measuring out the length of their small intestines and making a model stomach, placing and labelling organs on a life size body, and learning about how germs are spread and the importance of thorough hand washing.
