Words like these though π€© We're so chuffed to hear about such positive experiences like this!
We talk about being "child-led" a lot. But what does that actually mean?
What it DOES mean:
- Children choose their activities each day
- They can change their mind (not locked into one thing)
- They set the pace (no forced participation)
- Their interests guide the experience
- They feel ownership over their day
What it does NOT mean:
- No structure (we have clear routines, transitions, and boundaries)
- No supervision (ratios are maintained at all times)
- Children do whatever they want with no guidance
- Staff just watch from the sidelines
The magic is in the balance: structured enough to feel safe, free enough to feel empowering.
When a child says "I chose to do that" - the pride is different from "I was told to do that."
That is the Adventure Camps philosophy. Every adventure, their own.
Heads up - Summer 10% Early Bird closes 24th May at midnight.

Returning families mean everythingβ¦ thanks Steven, you legend πͺπ»
We see it every single camp: a child arrives nervous, unsure, clinging to routine - and by Friday they have done something they never thought possible.
But it does not just happen at camp.
What is the bravest thing YOUR child has done recently?
It might be small (ordering their own food for the first time).
It might be huge (starting a new school alone).
Whatever it is - we want to celebrate it. Drop it below.

Thank you to every customer who shares their thoughts ππ£
Every parent knows this conversation:
"How was school?"
"Fine."
"What did you do?"
"Nothing."
Here is one question that actually works:
"What made you laugh today?"
Why? Because it is specific, positive, and asks for a story - not a report. Children respond to stories.
Other questions that work:
- "Who did you sit with at lunch?"
- "Was anything tricky today?"
- "If you were the teacher tomorrow, what would you change?"
- "Did anyone do something kind?"
Try one tonight and let us know what you learn.
At Adventure Camps, we build our end-of-day circle around these kinds of questions. Children reflect on what they chose, what they tried, and what they are proud of. It is remarkable how much they open up when the question is right.
Weekend planning question:
What is your family's go-to when you have no plans and need to get out of the house?
We will start: a flask of hot chocolate and a walk somewhere new. Simple but it always works.
What is yours? (Stealing ideas is strongly encouraged)
