Risks of returning to face-to-face piano teaching in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic
The government has announced further easing of restrictions on businesses in England, so I intend to resume face-to-face instrumental tuition from 27 July.
I nevertheless believe online piano teaching remains the safest way to proceed as it is a no-risk option, so I will continue to offer online lessons. There is also the option of some lessons being face-to-face and some online - a hybrid option.
I have carried out a risk assessment for my home studio and it is attached here for you to read should you wish. Please see it in the comment section below. This risk assessment is a matter for collaboration between parents, students and the teacher - therefore this assessment will only be finalised after consultation with those persons has taken place and agreement to the control measures put in place. If you would like to add or change anything, please let me know.
Kindest regards,
Gergely Kendik

That is what my office looks like these days. I am truly grateful for your ongoing support and hats off to the parents for helping, encouraging and keeping the students motivated. Can't wait to return to face-to-face lessons.
I'm now offering piano lessons online by live video call using Skype or Zoom, from the comfort and safety of your own home. The lessons are suitable for all ages and abilities.
Dear Students and Parents!
Thank you for the ongoing support and dear parents, thank you for trusting me with your children. Many of you are planning to add an extra Skype piano lesson to the weekly routine due to school closures. I would like to offer the second lesson at half price. Take care of your family and each other.

There are almost as many approaches to learning music as there are musicians. Zoltán Kodály's method plays a huge part in my approach to teaching music, especially to ear training. It combines several powerful techniques for developing the core skills of musicianship. According to Kodály, no child is devoid of musicality, he just needs to go and bring it out in the most appropriate way. The Kodály method (also referred to as the Kodály concept) is a way of developing musical skills and teaching musical concepts starting from a very early age. The method uses a child-developmental approach to sequence, introducing skills according to the capabilities of the child. The method incorporates rhythm syllables, includes the use of rhythmic movement and a system of movable "do" solfege syllables.
