Kids Academy Holt Park

Kids Academy Holt Park Kids Academy is an OFSTED registered private childcare day nursery. Kids Academy nursery is graduate led with a highly qualified workforce.

We are set out on two floors with a variety of rooms and resources. We have three main children rooms, which are age appropriate, provide age appropriate activities and resources. Our full time cook prepares fresh meals daily and we pride ourselves on a well balanced nutritious menu. Our Hygiene star rating as awarded by Leeds City Council is 5 stars. We have three outdoor areas which have a large

front garden area where children can enjoy playing in our sheltered sand pit, playing make believe on our wooden train, climbing up our climbing and going down our fun slide at the other side. You can have lots of fun painting pictures on our drawing boards. We also have lots of bikes and cars for children to ride around on. Our second outdoor area has a wobbly bridge and balancing beam. There is a third outdoor area which is sheltered so children can play out no matter what the weather. We also have a movement and sensory room upstairs for all children to use; this room provides children to do one to one work with their key worker or to interact in small groups. Throughout the year we try to promote as much parental involvement as possible and appreciate any time families can spend in the nursery, you will often be invited to open sessions and fun days that we are hosting. Pastoral care is paramount, each individual child will have a key worker who will be the first point of contact for families. A profile is maintain of each child’s development. We have strong links with the local schools in the area and this is shown by us being invited to local events they are holding and transitions when children move to school as teachers come to visit the children in their setting to ease the transition form nursery to school.

Autumn at Kids Academy

These past few weeks we have been very busy doing lots of fun educational activities.

We have been learning about the seasons and what we think about when we talk about Autumn.

We have been learning about Diwali and how this is celebrated.

We have celebrated Halloween and had lots of different spooky activities each day.

We have just been learning about Bonfire Night, we talk about how to stay safe, how to hold sparklers and we made our own firework pictures.

We have done lots of learning about oral health and why it is important to keep out teeth clean.

All rooms have been enjoying the lovely weather and have been exploring the gardens and enjoying painting and drawing outside. We have been focusing lots on our counting, colours and numbers as well as celebrating lots of different festivals over the past few weeks. We have celebrated Eid, Vaisakhi, Nowruz, Holi Festival, World Book day, Pancake day and Easter.
We have been decorating our own Easter Eggs and hung them in the garden for everyone to see.
We have enjoyed playing football in the garden which has helped us focused on our coordination skills.
We have enjoyed learning about animals and have enjoyed using other materials such as water when playing with them. We have also been learning about spring and what this season means, we have all been growing our own sunflowers and have loved watching them grow.
Toddlers have been learning Makaton and doing a new sign each week.

Yesterday we had a visit from Strutt Farm. The children got to learn about animals on the farm, we even had a visit from some of the animals. We met Margot the goat and her baby Mary. We met two lambs Sally and Wallace. We also got to hold some chicks, chickens and ducks.

We are so proud to announce that following our recent Ofsted inspection we have been awarded the highest outcome of ‘Outstanding’ a grade that only 10% of settings achieved in 2023.

It has been 6 years since our last inspection where we were awarded a ‘Good' rating. In over 20 years of our existence the last 3 years have truly been the hardest and most challenging period. Working through an unprecedented pandemic for two years and then facing a national recruitment crisis have made our jobs harder than they have ever been. So to have our setting achieve this 'Outstanding' result is truly amazing.

We are proud of the hard work, care and education our team constantly delivers.

We would like to thank the families, who the inspector asked to speak with on the inspection day, for their time and input to the process.

The children, in their interaction with the inspector, clearly demonstrated to her how they are flourishing at Kids Academy.

As well as being so proud and thanking our amazing team, we would also like to thank our families for working in partnership with us to enhance the high standard of care and education which Ofsted have recognised.

Just a quick reminder that the nursery will be closed on Monday 8th May 2023.

Please can we ask that you add pictures to your tapestry account for any celebrating you do for the King's Coronation this weekend.

This week we have been learning about the Royal Family and what the King's Coronation is all about. We have been making our own crowns and bunting and decorated the garden for a tea party.

We hope everyone has enjoyed all the many activities and events we have had going on throughout December.

We wanted to thank everyone for coming to the Christmas party we hope you all enjoyed it, especially the surprise visit from Santa.

We have been learning all about Winter and Christmas. We have been making lots of different Christmas crafts to bring home for you. We have had lots of fun decorating the nursery, we have even been working in Santa's workshop.

The nursery will close at 6pm on Friday 23rd of December and re-open on Tuesday 3rd January.
