Autumn at Kids Academy

These past few weeks we have been very busy doing lots of fun educational activities.

We have been learning about the seasons and what we think about when we talk about Autumn.

We have been learning about Diwali and how this is celebrated.

We have celebrated Halloween and had lots of different spooky activities each day.

We have just been learning about Bonfire Night, we talk about how to stay safe, how to hold sparklers and we made our own firework pictures.

We have done lots of learning about oral health and why it is important to keep out teeth clean.

All rooms have been enjoying the lovely weather and have been exploring the gardens and enjoying painting and drawing outside. We have been focusing lots on our counting, colours and numbers as well as celebrating lots of different festivals over the past few weeks. We have celebrated Eid, Vaisakhi, Nowruz, Holi Festival, World Book day, Pancake day and Easter.
We have been decorating our own Easter Eggs and hung them in the garden for everyone to see.
We have enjoyed playing football in the garden which has helped us focused on our coordination skills.
We have enjoyed learning about animals and have enjoyed using other materials such as water when playing with them. We have also been learning about spring and what this season means, we have all been growing our own sunflowers and have loved watching them grow.
Toddlers have been learning Makaton and doing a new sign each week.

Yesterday we had a visit from Strutt Farm. The children got to learn about animals on the farm, we even had a visit from some of the animals. We met Margot the goat and her baby Mary. We met two lambs Sally and Wallace. We also got to hold some chicks, chickens and ducks.

Kids Academy would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

We hope everyone had lots of fun at our Christmas party and our visit from Santa.

We have also enjoyed singing our favourite Christmas songs over at Holt Park Active.

We are so proud to announce that following our recent Ofsted inspection we have been awarded the highest outcome of ‘Outstanding’ a grade that only 10% of settings achieved in 2023.

It has been 6 years since our last inspection where we were awarded a ‘Good' rating. In over 20 years of our existence the last 3 years have truly been the hardest and most challenging period. Working through an unprecedented pandemic for two years and then facing a national recruitment crisis have made our jobs harder than they have ever been. So to have our setting achieve this 'Outstanding' result is truly amazing.

We are proud of the hard work, care and education our team constantly delivers.

We would like to thank the families, who the inspector asked to speak with on the inspection day, for their time and input to the process.

The children, in their interaction with the inspector, clearly demonstrated to her how they are flourishing at Kids Academy.

As well as being so proud and thanking our amazing team, we would also like to thank our families for working in partnership with us to enhance the high standard of care and education which Ofsted have recognised.

Just a quick reminder that the nursery will be closed on Monday 8th May 2023.

Please can we ask that you add pictures to your tapestry account for any celebrating you do for the King's Coronation this weekend.

This week we have been learning about the Royal Family and what the King's Coronation is all about. We have been making our own crowns and bunting and decorated the garden for a tea party.

We hope everyone has fun joining in the scarecrow festival this weekend. Look out for our Kids Academy scarecrow.

This week we had the arrival of our chick eggs. We have been very excited to watch them hatch and we now have 6 chicks.

This week we have been talking to the children about Lunar New Year. We have been making lanterns and money pockets. As well as reading the story about Lunar New Year.

We hope everyone has enjoyed all the many activities and events we have had going on throughout December.

We wanted to thank everyone for coming to the Christmas party we hope you all enjoyed it, especially the surprise visit from Santa.

We have been learning all about Winter and Christmas. We have been making lots of different Christmas crafts to bring home for you. We have had lots of fun decorating the nursery, we have even been working in Santa's workshop.

The nursery will close at 6pm on Friday 23rd of December and re-open on Tuesday 3rd January.
