A Letter from the Burrowers Sisters ❤️
Back in 2018, Little Burrowers was born when two sisters were both expecting babies. At the time, baby play cafés were still quite rare, and we wanted to create somewhere special for parents and their little ones.
With babies in our arms, we spent our days tag-teaming the café, running baby classes, and looking after our own children at the same time. Looking back, we don't quite know how we did it—but what a team we made!
As Little Burrowers grew busier, we were lucky enough to welcome some truly amazing staff who helped us build the business into what it is today.
Originally, our play area was designed for babies from birth to 18 months. Time and time again, our customers told us how sad they were when their little ones became too old to visit. So, in 2021, we decided to take the leap and expand, introducing George Town Play Village for confident walkers up to 5 years old. It was a huge success and was loved by both our existing families and so many new ones.
Little Burrowers has always been far more than just a business to us. We have poured our hearts and souls into every part of it. Both of us spent our maternity leaves not resting, but dedicating ourselves to building somewhere that would be special not only for our own families but for yours too.
Over the last eight years, we've made lifelong friends, watched your babies grow into confident little people, and then welcomed so many of you back again with younger siblings. Being part of your family's journey has been the greatest privilege.
Selling Little Burrowers has honestly been one of the hardest decisions we've ever had to make. It's brought every emotion imaginable. We're excited to gain a little more time with our own families—to be there for football matches, school events and those moments we've sometimes had to miss—but saying goodbye to something we've built from the ground up is incredibly emotional.
From the very beginning, we've always said Little Burrowers is one big family, and we truly mean that.
To our wonderful staff—you have become our family. We honestly couldn't have done any of this without your loyalty, dedication and friendship.
❤️ Gaynor and Sheryll – thank you for being like second mums to us and honorary aunties to our children. You're simply the best... and yes, we definitely need another night out!
❤️ Amber – our longest-serving team member. Nothing ever seems to faze you and you've always been so calm, reliable and brilliant. Thank you for everything.
❤️ Sofia – thank you for always being the one we could rely on to cover a shift whenever we needed you. We wish you every success at university.
❤️ Kelly-Anne – although you've not been with us for long, you've slotted into the team so naturally. It feels fitting that one of our very first customers became one of our team!
❤️ Emily – thank you for becoming our Elsa, our Little Mermaid and bringing so much magic to our princess parties.
❤️ Alison – our very first employee. Thank you for helping us juggle children, business and family life alongside your own busy household (and twins!). In fact, you're the reason we introduced our twin discount!
❤️ Our Chloe's – thank you both for being fantastic weekend team members.
❤️ Auntie Justine – thank you for always stepping in whenever we had a staffing emergency.
❤️ Debs Austin – thank you for years of cleaning, face painting.
And to everyone else who has been part of our journey—whether you've worked with us, visited us once, or have been with us since day one—thank you. Every single one of you has helped make Little Burrowers what it is today.
We also couldn't have done any of this without our own families.
❤️ To our husbands—thank you for building George Town Play Village with us, for listening to endless ideas, making countless trips to the wholesalers and supporting every crazy dream we had.
❤️ To our dad—thank you for being our rock. You were always there whenever we had business questions, always believed in us and have been our biggest supporter from day one.
❤️ To our mum—thank you for being our biggest cheerleader and for spending every Thursday helping with the children to make life that little bit easier.
❤️ And to our Grandma Janet (Burrow)—thank you for all the times we asked if you could come and entertain our children while we taught baby classes or hosted baby discos. We know how much of your own time you gave us, and we'll always be grateful.
We are incredibly lucky to have such a supportive family behind us, and we'll never take that for granted.
Finally, to all of our amazing customers... thank you.
Thank you for trusting us with your babies, celebrating milestones with us, recommending us to your friends, supporting our little business and filling Little Burrowers with laughter every single day. Without you, none of this would have been possible.
‼️Although ownership is changing, Little Burrowers isn't going anywhere. The wonderful staff you know and love will still be here, and the heart of Little Burrowers will remain the same—just with new owner ready to continue its story.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives.
