What a lovely way to begin a new school year! 💛

Yesterday, we welcomed some of our new Reception children and their families to Hovingham for two Stay & Play sessions, giving them the chance to explore their new classrooms, meet some of the team and start getting comfortable in their new surroundings.

We loved seeing our classrooms filled with new faces and can’t wait to welcome everyone back for their first day on Monday 7 September.

There’s so much to look forward to, and we’re excited to see our newest pupils learn, play, make friends and become part of the Hovingham community.

A new school year, a fresh start and so many opportunities ahead! 💙

Our first week back at Hovingham has marked the beginning of another exciting year, filled with new experiences, new friendships and plenty of opportunities for our children to learn, grow and discover what they can achieve.

Whether they’re starting their very first day at Hovingham or returning for another year, every child has a new chapter ahead of them.

We can’t wait to see our pupils embrace new challenges, make memories and never give up as they take on everything this school year has to offer.

One of the things our pupils love about Hovingham is being part of a community where they can be themselves. We’re proud to bring together children and families from different cultures, religions, languages and backgrounds, and celebrate what makes each of us unique.

There’s always something to get involved in at Hovingham, from sport and Forest School to creative activities, trips, celebrations and much more. We make sure every child has the chance to take part, have fun and feel included.

Come along and Play & Learn at Hovingham! 🌟

Our free Stay & Play sessions are a great opportunity for local families to enjoy fun, play based activities together while helping young children develop their confidence, creativity and social skills.

From interactive games and stories to creative activities, there’s plenty for little ones to explore and enjoy.

Good nutrition plays an important role in helping children learn, grow and thrive. A healthy, balanced meal gives children the energy they need to stay focused in the classroom, take part in activities and enjoy every opportunity the school day has to offer.

We're also proud to support families in our community through our free school meals provision. All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to free school meals, and older children may also be eligible depending on family circumstances. Registering if you're eligible can also help the school receive additional funding through the Pupil Premium, creating even more opportunities for our pupils.

At Hovingham Primary School, we’re proud to offer free, inclusive Wraparound Care that supports both children and working families.

Our Breakfast Club (7:45–8:30am, free for all families) gives children a calm, welcoming start to the day with breakfast, reading and social time so they feel ready, respectful and safe for learning.

Our After School Offer (3:15–4:30pm) provides active, sports-focused sessions where children build friendships, confidence and teamwork in a fun and supportive environment.
