🐬The BIG Oulton Quiz Of The Year 2026🐬

Yesterday morning, the whole school gathered in their house teams to battle it out in The BIG Oulton Quiz Of The Year 2026, hosted by Miss Brown.

Our leaving staff, Miss White, Miss Johnson, Miss Harden, Mrs Ellis, Mr Dehdashty and Mr James took part as our experts and, alongside the year group captains, used their knowledge of History, Science, Art, Literacy, PE and Computing to try and lead their house to victory. Miss Barrett, who now begins her maternity leave, took on the Bonus Round where she had the tricky job of matching staff to their baby photos. After some close quizzing, Cockcroft were crowned 2026 champions!

At the end of the quiz, Miss Brown was surprised by an extra round that had been secretly slipped into the quiz which was then followed by a Take That themed leaving video, celebrating her and all the other staff whose Oulton journey came to an end yesterday.

As is the Oulton way, LOTS of fun and silliness was had by everyone and it was a fantastic way to end the year as a school family.

We want to take this opportunity to thank our leaving staff for their immense hard work and dedication to our school and wish them the very best of luck in whatever comes next. We can’t wait to hear about their new adventures.

Finally, the whole staff would like to thank our families for all the generous gifts and kind words that have been shared over the last few days - these are never expected but always hugely appreciated. But, most of all, we want to thank you for the absolute privilege of working with your children and allowing us to be part of their primary school journey.

Happy Summer, Oulton!

👋🏻 Goodbye, Year 6 👋🏻

Yesterday, our Year 6 pupils’ primary school journey came to an end so, at the end of the school day, we proudly walked them out of school through a guard of honour created by their Year 5 friends.

We are incredibly proud of everything that our Year 6 children have achieved throughout their time with us and cannot wait to hear about their next steps.

Keep working hard and being amazing, Year 6.
We will miss you.

Year 6 have had another amazing day in the sun. We’ve walked, skimmed stones, completed the leap of faith and even managed to fit ourselves in the tightest of gaps when caving. We also have some tired Year 6s as a few us stayed up to watch the first half of Scotland v Brazil 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇧🇷

Year 6 have had an amazing first day at Buckden House. We’ve already done the leap of faith, been on the see walk, gone caving and even attempted a Gill Scramble. We’re currently playing outside in the evening sun ☀️

⚠️SUN SAFETY⚠️

We are currently experiencing a period of very warm weather this week. It is important that we keep all children safe, comfortable and well during the school day.

Your child must come to school each day with:

💦A refillable water bottle (this should be in addition to any juice that is brought for lunchtime)

🧢👒A sun hat or cap

🧴 Sun cream already applied before school

You may also wish to send your child with additional sun cream so that they can reapply it during the day if needed. Please make sure you child's suncream is clearly labelled with their name.

In school, we will be making some adjustments to our routines to minimise time in direct sun, increase opportunities for drinking water, and keep classrooms as cool as possible.

We strongly encourage children to wear lighter, cooler clothing where appropriate, within our uniform expectations. Children can wear a closed-toe sandal as long as it has a strap around the back of the foot. Crocs are not appropriate school footwear and should not be worn.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support in helping us to keep the children safe and well.

After a couple of rescheduled dates due to the ever-unpredictable British weather, we have now finished all of our Sports Days.

As always, the children had a fantastic time and threw themselves into their events. Thank you to all the adults who were able to come along and support them.

Also, a big thank you to the staff who organised the event for their phase and to POPS - Parents of Oulton Primary School PTA for providing each child with an ice-pop.

Well done, Oulton! 🐬
