Earlier this week Library and Knowledge Services were at the R&D Forum supporting this important annual event to showcase research taking part in Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. Twitter users can search to catch up on some of the themes discussed.
Nkem has been supporting the Corporate Inductions once again with the LKS stand at Hillside.
Meanwhile Dom has been helping to plan the Yorkshire and Humber Library and Knowledge Network event which takes place in Leeds next Tuesday 17th November.

A busy week for information skills training with a number of 1:1 training sessions followed by a great Critical Appraisal session. Later in the week we held our regular day-long course on Finding and Appraising the Evidence. Come on Wiley - new Cochrane looks great but we need to be able to use it with IE8.
We were also at Junior Doctors teaching earlier in the week and Nkem represented the service at Corporate Inductions last week.
In other news we have been meeting with colleagues across the NHS and local Universities as part of our regular Leeds Libraries Partnerships Group.

Over the summer period LKS has been reviewing submissions in the journals survey, looking at the usage levels of our current subscription titles, and looking at popular document supply titles, to determine subscriptions for 2016.
This process is now complete and the results are posted on the LKS Staffnet page which is accessible within LYPFT here http://goo.gl/qre8BY
We have cancelled several poorly used titles and subscribed to 4 new titles in electronic format to ensure maximum accessibility.
Promoting library and knowledge services to people new to the Trust has been a major theme in the last few weeks. On Wednesday 16th September Nkem took the library stand to Corporate Inductions while, on Friday 18th, Dom spoke to student doctors on placement within the Trust as part of their induction program.
Meanwhile Donna has been busy updating our Pinterest site with the latest new books available from the LYPFT library service http://bit.ly/1KNQHKB and we have been enhancing our CPD portal to increase the number of links to resources relevant to Allied Health Professions. http://bit.ly/1Vp4Ndp

Last week Library Managers from across Yorkshire and Humberside met to discuss developments in the field of Health Libraries. High on the agenda was the Knowledge for Healthcare framework which aims to develop and improve NHS libraries over the next 5 years. https://hee.nhs.uk/work-programmes/library-and-knowledge-services/
Staff have completed the annual Library Quality Assurance Framework self-assessment which benchmarks the Library and Knowledge Service compliance against a series of national standards.
Nkem has been welcoming new starters to the Trust at the Corporate Inductions and helping ensure awareness of our resources and services.
We have also been working on finalising the 2016 journals subscriptions and hope to have more news of this by the next post.

Meeting the demand for literature searches has been high on the priorities list for LKS over the past few weeks with the service undertaking 17 searches during August - usually a fairly quiet month.
With our Leeds Libraries for Health colleagues we staffed a popular Library Services Information Stand for the Inspiring & Empowering Learners in Practice event at the Rosebowl - highlighting the many resources available from NHS libraries to support mentors and those with responsibility for students and learners.

This week in the library we have been looking at enhancing elements of our current awareness CPD Portal http://www.netvibes.com/lypft-lks - particularly working with our AHP colleagues to enhance the content in that section of the resource.
Work has started on reviewing our institutional journals subscriptions with a look at usage statistics for our electronic journals over the past 12 months.
We are also tidying up our Intranet (Staffnet) site in preparation for a forthcoming relaunch of the resource.

Yesterday LKS welcomed David Stewart, Director of Health Libraries North West, and deputy Linda Ferguson. Among other responsibilities David's team provide strategic leadership for NHS Library and Knowledge services across the north of England and oversee services performance against the LQAF criteria.
We have been working to improve some of our guidance within the library and have created a video library induction to supplement our attendance at LYPFTs Corporate Inductions and our Induction Intranet site on staffnet.
LKS is also looking forward to supporting the organisation's RDForum in November.
