What is the Curiosity Approach?
The Curiosity Approach is a creative and innovative method of supporting child development in the early years. It places children at the heart of the learning process, and provides them with innumerable opportunities to explore, imagine, and create.
How can you help and support this approach?
We would really appreciate if you were able to donate any natural resources that you may have laying around in your homes.
This can range from wooden/ metal spoons that you no longer need, pots and pans, bangles and jewellery, ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING! :)

At Meanwood, we take birthdays very seriously!
Alongside having a little birthday tea party for the children’s birthday, it can also support their learning in lots of different ways!
Singing happy birthday supports the younger children with their speech and language development. It can also encourage friendships within the class.
For the older children, it allows them to see a real world example of the sequence of months. We can incorporate maths, by counting down the months until their birthday. Letter recognition and pronunciation to help with school readiness.

On Thursday 3rd March 2022 it is World Book Day!
For the children who attend on this day, they can come to nursery dressed as their favourite book character. We would also like them to bring in their favourite book, so we can read it at circle time with all their friends.
The children will take part in lots of fun activities during the day to celebrate also :)

We have a new area in the baby room..
Research has proven that black and white contrasts registers powerfully on baby’s retina and send the strongest visual signals to baby’s brains. Stronger signals mean more brain growth and faster visual development.
Also, it looks super cosy and inviting! ✨

To reflect the cold and rainy weather that we have been having, the children will be learning about the season, Winter.
We will talk about why it is cold in Winter and what things we can do to keep ourselves warm.
For the younger children, we have incorporated flour to act as snow, for their sensory exploration.

Welcome Nursery at Meanwood are raising money to buy our very own defibrillator to keep on-site, which could save a life!
Defibrillators are very important because, for every minute it takes for the defibrillator to reach someone and deliver a shock, their chances of survival reduce (British Heart Foundation).
Throughout the next coming months, we will be holding a variety of fundraising events in aid of this, so please keep an eye out for these!
On Saturday 5th February 2022, the staff at Meanwood took part in a 4 mile walk around Rodley canal and back to raise money for our on-site defibrillator.
No donation is too small.

The children will be able to use their fine and gross motor skills to scoop the rice, as well as learning about what tigers like to eat and where they live.
