A fantastic Primary Taster Day at Hillcrest Primary School! 🍎
We were delighted to welcome prospective trainees to experience a day in the life of a primary teacher. The day began with a warm welcome and insightful tour from the Vice Principal, followed by an overview of our teacher training programme.
Participants enjoyed observing a Year 3 lesson, before sharing lunch with two of our former trainees, Jack and Molly, now thriving as ECT1s at Hillcrest, who offered invaluable firsthand insights into their journey.
The day concluded with tailored support on applying for teacher training, helping attendees take their next steps with confidence.

Mentor Monday 🌟

Meet Hollie, one of our secondary Biology trainee, pictured with her mentor Viki from BBG Academy.

As we enter the final half term, Hollie wanted to take a moment to celebrate the incredible impact Viki has had on her journey:

“I cannot thank my mentor enough for all of the support, guidance, and encouragement she has given me throughout this year. She has always been there when I needed advice, reassurance, or simply someone to talk things through with.

Most importantly, she believed in me during the times when I struggled to believe in myself, and her confidence in me has played a huge part in helping me grow into the teacher I am today. I am incredibly grateful for everything she has done for me and the impact she has had on both my professional development and personal confidence.

I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor.”

Mentors at GORSE SCITT play a vital role in shaping the next generation of teachers, offering support, challenge, encouragement, and expertise every step of the way. Thank you, Viki, for the difference you have made to Hollie’s training year!
