🏆 An Incredible Summer of Achievement for Daniel! 🏆

As we prepare to welcome students back for the new academic year, it is fantastic to be celebrating the outstanding achievements of Daniel, who is about to start Year 11 at UTC Leeds.

Daniel has enjoyed an exceptional summer in athletics, competing in the Under 16 Boys High Jump and achieving success at every level:

🥇 Yorkshire Championships Champion
🥈 Northern Championships Runner-Up
🇬🇧 Competitor at the England Athletics Championships

Heading into the national championships, Daniel's personal best stood at 1.75m. This weekend, on the biggest stage of his season, he produced not one but two new personal bests, clearing 1.78m and then an outstanding 1.81m. The video captures the brilliant moment he cleared 1.81m.

And that's not all. Earlier in the season, Daniel broke the West Yorkshire Track & Field League record, jumping an incredible 1.82m, another personal best and a remarkable achievement for an Under 16 athlete.

What makes this even more impressive is that Daniel has combined his sporting success with academic excellence. This summer he achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE Mathematics, having sat the exam a year early!

I am sure you will join us in celebrating such a fantastic set of achievements! We are incredibly proud of everything he has achieved and are delighted to welcome him back to UTC Leeds as he begins Year 11.

📅 Important Exam Dates for 2026–27 Students and Parents

As you begin planning holidays, appointments and family events for next year, please ensure that students are available for the entire examination period, including the national contingency day. Exam boards can require students to attend on this day if exams are disrupted nationally or locally.

Summer 2027 Exams

🚫 Students must not book holidays or make commitments that could prevent them from attending exams between 10 May and 23 June 2027.

✅ First GCSE and A Level examinations: 10 May 2027.
✅ Final GCSE examination: 18 June 2027.
✅ Final A Level examination: 22 June 2027.
✅ National Contingency Day: 23 June 2027. [\[jcq.org.uk\]]

Other Key Assessment Periods

📝 GCSE English and Maths resits take place during November. Students who may need to retake these qualifications should ensure they remain available throughout the examination window.

📝 T Level Core Examinations for Engineering and Digital take place during the summer assessment period in June.

📝 T Level Occupational Specialism assessments for Engineering and Digital are also scheduled for key dates across the academic. Students should ensure they remain available for all assessment activities as directed by UTC Leeds.

📢 Early planning is essential. Please check dates carefully before booking holidays, driving tests, work commitments or other appointments. Ensuring full availability throughout the assessment period and attending all lesson and work placements, gives students the best opportunity to succeed. 🎓📚

Celebrating Fantastic GCSE Results and an Exciting Future Ahead! 🎉

We are incredibly proud of every single one of our students for their hard work, resilience and determination. Their achievements are a testament to the dedication they have shown throughout their studies, and we are delighted to celebrate their success today.

📚 Maths
• 85% achieved Grade 4+
• 67% achieved Grade 5+

🧪 Science
• 85% achieved two Grade 4s and above
• 73% achieved two Grade 5s and above

📖 English
• 79% achieved Grade 4+
• 64% achieved Grade 5+

⚙️ Engineering Design & Manufacture
• 81% achieved Level 2 Pass+
• 65% achieved Level 2 Merit+
• 34% achieved Level 2 Distinction / Distinction*

These results reflect the commitment and ambition of our students, and we couldn't be prouder.

Yesterday, we were thrilled to welcome so many of our Year 11 students back to enrol in our Sixth Form, and we are just as excited to welcome new students joining us from across Yorkshire. We can't wait to get started on the next stage of their journey and see what they achieve.

We are open today until 3:30pm for any further enrolment.

There is currently a waiting list for our Engineering T Level, however we still have the last few places available on our Digital T Level courses and selected STEM A Level programmes.

What a day! Today we're celebrating our amazing students and all that they have achieved on GCSE Results Day.
