Pope Francis established September 1st as the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.🌍

CAFOD explains:

💬The day is inspired by Pope Francis' landmark encyclical ‘Laudato Si’, which calls on "every person living on this planet" to care for our shared Earth.

The World Day of Prayer also marks the beginning of the Season of Creation, which runs until 4 October, the feast of St Francis of Assisi.💬

The theme that Pope Leo XIV has chosen for 2026 is taken from Isaiah 2:4 – “They shall beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks”.📖

Pope Leo invites us to:

🙏 Imagine a world in which the energies currently invested in war are directed toward integral human development, to overcoming poverty, protecting human dignity and reconciling divided peoples. Such a vision reflects faith in the coming of God’s Kingdom.🙏

GCSE Religious Studies students, this is yet another example which you could use to support your work on stewardship in any of the ‘creation’ elements of your Christianity studies.📚

This Christmas we are off to Canada, so we kept our summer holiday simple with a sunny week in rugged Dartmoor!🌞

Here’s me with a family of resident ponies on Hound Tor!🐴🤷🐶

Let’s have a Dartmoor-based fact for each of my subjects:

🚓History🚓
Princeton is home to HM Prison Dartmoor. This category-C nick became a Home Office work centre for conscientious objectors during World War One.

🛘Geography🛘
Dartmoor has over 160 tors. Tors are rocky outcrops that form on the tops of hills, created when large masses of hard granite resist weathering while the surrounding, softer rock gradually erodes away.

⛪️Religious Studies⛪️
Buckfast Abbey, on the southern edge of Dartmoor, is a working Benedictine monastery famous as the birthplace of Buckfast Tonic Wine, the fortified, caffeinated, Scot-tempting tipple.

I’m on my summer break!🌞

Just dropping by again, though, to celebrate student success!🎉

You’ll know that GCSE results day was today … and the results are coming in!😯

A reminder today that success isn’t all about the grade 8s and 9s.🤔

From the start of 2026 I worked with a student who had been absent from school for some time.🏫

Despite valiantly trying to keep up at home she hadn’t covered quite a lot of content and hadn’t been taught how to respond to exam questions.🤷‍♀️

Ove six months we filled in those gaps in the knowledge and learned exactly how to answer each question type.🧠📝

She got a 5!!😍

5+ is what we call a ‘strong pass’!!💪

Tutees, parents, tutoring colleagues and followers, I’m looking forward to us all celebrating more student success over the next few weeks!🎉

I’m on my summer break!🌞

Just dropping by again, though, to celebrate student success!🎉

You might not know that Cambridge IGCSE results day is today, a little earlier in the week than the regular GCSEs … and the results are coming in!😯

Last year I tutored a student taking Cambridge History IGCSE, as I often do.🏰

Very able and very motivated, she wanted to make sure that her History result matched the suite of top grades she was aiming for.🎯

We focussed for about a year on the two aspects of study which really count the most for students in this position: profound depth of knowledge and perfect exam technique.🧠📝

She got an A*!!😍

I’m delighted to say that we’re starting work on the A level History next week too!👍
