I did a lovely little workshop today at wellington_place_leeds

They have been putting workshops on over the summer for your little ones as part of the Wellington place Nature trail 🌈

Today’s workshop was mainly about bugs and was much fun 🐞🐛🦟🪲🐜🕷️

Last night’s children’s art workshop at leftbankleeds was the last one of the school year 😁

We used fabric paint and painted t-shirts
Children had free range to paint whatever they wanted and the results were amazing 🤩

Thank you to all the children and parents for the support
And a massive Thank you to Finn who has volunteered at art class for the past year and a bit 😁

Andy Warhol, Roy Liechtenstein, Rene Magritte, Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, Mark Rothko, Modigliani and many many more

On Friday i went with my mum down to London on the train to visit the Frida Kahlo exhibition at the Tate 🤩

It was amazing
To see her work up close and works of other amazing Mexican women

In this week’s children’s art workshop at Left Bank Leeds we looked at some sculptures made by Spanish artist Joan Miro 🦵🦵

We used bits of old broken toys along with lollipop sticks, corks, polystyrene balls and whatever else could be found in the box 🗃️
Stuck together with hot glue and wire

The children made som fantastic sculptures and it was lovely watching their imaginations run wild 👩‍🎨🧑‍🎨

In last nights children’s art workshop leftbankleeds we looked at my beautiful picture for the Leeds Art Gallery, Picture Library.

I am in love with this picture and never want to return it!
The picture is printed by Italian artist Pompeo Borra and is called Girl with Necklace.

We looked closely at the picture and discussed what we thought about the piece and how it made us feel.

The children used A3 paper, oil pastels, marker pens and pencils to create their own beautiful drawing inspired by this piece 🤩

I tonight’s children’s art workshop leftbankleeds I was definitely a hot mess 🥵 but did eventually cool down in the lovely old cool building ⛪️

We looked at Chinese artist Ann Nui
Ann Nui studied calligraphy from the age of 5 and uses traditional ink painting in her work 🖋️

The children looked at her work and stated at first that it just looked like scribbles but on closer inspection children could see figures and different images in her work

Children used colouring pencils and ink which they applied to their work using sticks and feathers 🪶 🦯
The results were fabulous 🤩

In this evening’s children’s art workshop leftbankleeds we looked at The Old Fisherman painted by Hungarian artist Tivadar Kosztka in 1902

This painting at first looks like an ordinary painting but if you hold a mirror to the centre of his face this painting has two sides
A calm, soft, gentle looking man appears on one side and a more angry, scary looking man with horns appears on the other side

The children loved discovering this with the image and a mirror
Children then used pencils and pencil crayons to create there own image with two sides

In last night children’s art workshop leftbankleeds our session was inspired by my recent Lisbon trip 🇵🇹

We looked at two street artists named Pedro and Miro, who paint rocks by the sea.
The painted rocks 🪨

The artists paint and stack the rocks of people and animals
I was very happy to stumble upon these while I was there

So this evening the children took a selection of rocks and then practiced stacking them before painting them

We got a bit messy but the children enjoyed painting on a different material 😁
