In this evening’s children’s art workshop leftbankleeds we looked at The Old Fisherman painted by Hungarian artist Tivadar Kosztka in 1902

This painting at first looks like an ordinary painting but if you hold a mirror to the centre of his face this painting has two sides
A calm, soft, gentle looking man appears on one side and a more angry, scary looking man with horns appears on the other side

The children loved discovering this with the image and a mirror
Children then used pencils and pencil crayons to create there own image with two sides

In last night children’s art workshop leftbankleeds our session was inspired by my recent Lisbon trip 🇵🇹

We looked at two street artists named Pedro and Miro, who paint rocks by the sea.
The painted rocks 🪨

The artists paint and stack the rocks of people and animals
I was very happy to stumble upon these while I was there

So this evening the children took a selection of rocks and then practiced stacking them before painting them

We got a bit messy but the children enjoyed painting on a different material 😁

In last night’s children’s art workshop at leftbankleeds we made Zines 😁

I love making these and knew the children would to!
We focused on the children as artists this week and based our Zines on a story about them 🧑‍🎨👩‍🎨

We used a thermal print camera, marker pens, stickers and collaging with magazines, sparkly and animal print paper

(I can’t show you how amazing these are due to the pictures of the children but they turned out truly amazing 🤩)

I had the pleasure of running a workshop for a 9 year olds birthday party this weekend 🎂

The birthday girl wanted to do a clay workshop, with a nature theme 🥳

The children were all lovely and got fully involved and made some lovely creatures with added sparkle ✨

I’ve been feeling a bit unwell this week and didn’t think I would be able to take the art class this week 🤢

But luckily my dad ant36_9 stepped in and taught the class 🥳

The children looked at artist Dennis Wojtkiewicz. They looked at his amazing fruit paintings 🥝🍓🍇🍋🍋‍🟩🍉🍍🍊
Children also had some real fruit to copy and try not to eat until they had finished drawing, which was the real challenge 🤣

Children used pencil, coloured pencils and marker pens to create their pictures 🤩

In last night’s children’s art workshop at leftbankleeds we looked at author and illustrator Eric Carle.

The children all recognised the author for the hungry caterpillar 🍓🐛

We looked closer at the book Mister Seahorse where the fish are camouflaged using acetate sheets.
We used Eric Carle’s technique of collaging with tissue paper and using pens for finer detail. We then used acetate sheets to put over the top of our work and camouflage the animals we had collaged.

The children did a fantastic job of this and the results are amazing 🤩

Lovely charm workshop yesterday evening for a 13 year olds birthday 🎂

In last night’s children’s art workshop at leftbankleeds we looked at Roy Lichtenstein.

We looked at his comic like paintings and use of Ben Day dots.

First children practiced printing their own Ben Day style dots using sponges, acrylic paint, bubble wrap and some foil that I found at scrapleeds!
Children then used marker pens to create a comic style image and then added dots 🔴⚪️🔵🟢⚫️🟣🟡

Some fabulous pictures were created 🤩

While in Lisbon I managed to drag my partner around an art gallery 😁

We went to The National Museum of Contemporary Art 🖼️

We spent the best part trying to avoid a school of teenagers 😆 but is was fab 🤩

In last night’s children’s art workshop at leftbankleeds we looked at Australian artist Emily Kame Kngwarreye.

Emily spent years of her life practicing the art of Batik where wax is used in fabric dying. In her later life Emily started experimenting with wax and paint on paper and acrylic on canvas. Emily created 8000 pieces of art work in just 8 years!!

The children used white wax crayons and water coloured paint to experiment and create their own piece of art work using this method.
The children found this harder then they thought but worked hard and managed to create some beautiful pieces of art work 🤩
