Can your child read ‘real’ words and ‘alien’ (pseudo-words)?
If they are in Year 1, they will be asked to do so from the second week of June during the national phonics screening test, administered in all English state schools. Your child may not even notice that they are having a test as it's a one to one activity. What is 7 x 9? English state schools start to administer the multiplication times tables check (MTC) for Year 4 pupils this week until Friday 12th June 2026.
Multiplication is an essential skill that all young mathematicians should know if they are to achieve future success in mathematics.

Here is a great website where children can practise their times tables through an online game.

Select the (Primary) year group and the maths skill or times table you wish to practise. Choose a single times table or select several. Combine with off-line methods to secure times table knowledge effectively.

🇬🇧English🇬🇧 Conversation Class In Partnership With Kirkstall Forge (Taught By HL Tutoring Services)

Course Details:
The course is for adults learning English as a Foreign/Second Language. Basically non-native English speakers.

It is aimed at:
*Professionals working in the private and public sector.
*Locals (who do not speak English as their first language) within the Kirkstall/Horsforth/Kirkstall Forge area are welcome to attend.
*Spouses/family members of professionals.
*People who have come to Leeds on holiday.
🚉Please note, Kirkstall Forge has its own train station and there are plenty car parking spaces 🚗.

Light refreshments ☕️🧁will also be provided by Butler's Cafe!

The language range is intermediate level English. ‘Independent level B1 and B2’. Students should be able to speak in sentences already but would like to extend their vocabulary/communicate in a range of settings/give reasons/explanations/opinions in conversation.

Year 6 (Key Stage Two) SATs are over!

The Year 6 tests (Key Stage Two SATs) start on Monday 11th May (and finish on Thursday 14th May 2026). The timetable is as follows:
*Monday *English grammar, punctuation and spelling papers 1 and 2
*Tuesday *English reading
*Wednesday *Mathematics papers 1 and 2
*Thursday *Mathematics paper 3

The tests are only for state schools in England.
The Year 2 tests (Key Stage One SATs) are optional for schools (in England) again.
