Let’s plant a tree, let’s plant more than a tree, let’s teach children about growth and nurturing, the environment and its impact on habitats and life. Let’s do more together!

We’re learning all about bugs and insects! What are insects? Where do they live and what do they eat? How do they move? We have lots of questions awaiting answers, let’s make a start!

So much hands on learning taking place in our special garden this week. We’ve painted on our easel I the sunshine, built a custom climbing frame, balanced, sorted, solved and created. Here’s to another week of awesome activities!

Today we had bags of fun drawing around our wooden animal figures. For a simple activity, this offers great development opportunities for the children’s cognitive and spacial awareness skills. Tracing helps toddlers understand spatial concepts like “inside,” “outside,” and “around.”

As they pull the wooden animal away, they get to see how a 3D object translates into a 2D outline. This is a magical “cause and effect” moment that boosts cognitive mapping.

First day of Spring had us up and eager to treasure hunt the signs that winter is behind us. Bring on the days of longer light and warmth on our faces as we play and learn.

A day with the ducks! We took our duck book to the banks of the river to enjoy with our feathery friends today. The mute swans joined us along with pigeons and mallards with a few black headed gulls keen to join in too!

There’s so much learning going on in our garden today, we’ve talked about speed, direction and forces with our ride on toys, mixing, combinations and instructions in our mud kitchen. We’ve built and engineered with bricks and discussed safety with ear defenders and hats. Colours were named, questions were asked and enquiries answered through investigation. Garden play rocks!

Last week we took time out to recognise our Mother’s and Others as part of celebrating Mother’s Day. We recognised some families have a mummy, some don’t, some have step mummies or live just with daddies along with lots of other combinations of family units. We made cards and gifts to say thank you to those who love and care for us.

We made our own tinker tray today when we embarked on a treasure hunt to seek out all things orange to match our resident tiger 🐅 When children do a treasure hunt together, they have to communicate, share ideas, and work as a unit. It teaches them how to delegate tasks and listen to others.
