So many skills explored in one simple task

*Listening and attention – listening to a story told by an unfamiliar adult and maintaining focus.
* Understanding and comprehension – following the story and responding to questions or instructions.
* Communication and language – learning and using vocabulary related to animals, colours and numbers.
* Social interaction – engaging appropriately with adults and children they have just met and taking turns.
* Colour recognition and matching – identifying colours and matching them correctly.
* Number recognition – recognising Numicon shapes/numerals and connecting them to quantities.
* Counting and one-to-one correspondence – counting objects/animals and matching the quantity to the appropriate Numicon piece.
* Mathematical reasoning – making links between number, quantity and representation.
* Memory and recall – remembering details from the story to complete the matching activity.
* Fine motor skills – handling and positioning Numicon pieces or matching resources.

🚂ALL ABOARD — younger siblings are welcome on Number Train too! 🚂

If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love to take my preschooler Number Train, but what will I do with the baby/toddler?” — this one’s for you!

Bring them along! 🥰

Your little ones don’t have to be old enough to join in properly to benefit from being at Number Train.

They can:
🎵 listen to the songs and rhymes
👀 Watch their big brother or sister joining in
🧠 Soak up all the language, numbers and learning around them
🚂 Get used to the routine of coming to a class
💛 Enjoy being part of their sibling’s special time

And there’s something in it for you too.

Getting out of the house, seeing familiar faces, chatting to other parents and having a reason to get dressed and head out can be so important. 💕

Plus, Number Train gives you the chance to spend some lovely 1-to-1 time with your older child — watching them learn, joining in with them and celebrating what they can do.

And we want to make it as easy as possible…

☀️ Summer, you’ve been a good one… ☀️

The last 6 weeks have been filled with making memories with my family — days out, little adventures, lots of laughs, a fair few messy moments

It feels like we blinked and the summer has disappeared! It’s so easy to get caught up in the everyday, but this summer has reminded me just how quickly these years are flying by and how important it is to slow down, enjoy the little moments and make the memories while we can. ✨

As much as I’ve loved the slower days, I think we’re all almost ready for a little routine again! 📚☕️

Here’s a little peek into our summer… because behind Number Train, I’m just a mum trying to soak it all in too. 🥰

🚂 “But they’re only 2½… isn’t it too early for maths?”

Not at all!

At Number Train, we believe that early maths starts with play, curiosity and everyday experiences.

Counting toys.
Spotting numbers.
Putting things in order.
Moving to music.
Singing songs.
Playing games.
Making things.
Talking, exploring and having fun with friends.

These little moments are building the foundations for future mathematical learning. 🌟

Our sessions are designed especially for little ones from around 2½ years, with lots of movement, music, play and hands-on activities alongside teacher-led learning.

And because our programme is progressive, September is the ideal time to jump aboard. 🚂

🚂SEPTEMBER IS THE PERFECT TIME TO START NUMBER TRAIN! 🚂

The summer holidays are nearly over… routines are returning… and September is the perfect time for your little one to jump aboard Number Train! 💛

Our new term starts this time, NEXT WEEK Monday 7th September in Collingham, with classes also running in Harrogate and Sicklinghall.

Designed for little ones from around 2½ years, Number Train makes early maths fun through:

New Class coming to The Little Bees Harrogate

Do you have a preschooler aged between 2.5 years and 4 years?
