Yorkshire Awards and International Women’s Day
On the eve of International Women’s Day, alumna and honorary graduate, Mel B, has received the Woman of the Year award at the Prestigious Yorkshire Awards in Leeds. Mel B commented: "This is such a huge honour for me because I’m a Yorkshire girl through and through! I was born here, I went to school here, I grew up here, I still have my accent, and I am proud also to say I have my honorary degree from Leeds Beckett University - it’s a huge moment!"

Leeds Beckett alumna Gayatri Madkekar is a finalist in the in India. Gayatri is a former international badminton player and studied MSc in Psychology of Sport and Exercise, graduating in 2013. Good luck to Gayatri!

Congrats to Leeds Beckett graduate Mohammad Jahirul Hoque, who is a finalist in this year's in Bangladesh. Mohammad graduated in 2010 with a MA in Peace and Development and went on to become the youngest Vice Chancellor in Bangladesh.

Good luck to our alumna Laura Etemah who is a finalist in the 2025 Study UK Alumni Awards in Nigeria! . Laura was the first Nigerian woman to get a MA in Music Production in 2016 at Leeds Beckett University.

New Year Honours

We have had four members of our alumni community honoured in the King's New year Honours.
