In dragonflies they have really enjoyed national story telling week, they have been busy looking at different books, using their memories to retell the stories in different ways and their creative skills to create different characters from the stories. They have also been using their math's skills to recognise numbers and put correct quantity to numbers, and also measuring their caterpillars with the rulers. In caterpillars this week they have really enjoyed the hungry caterpillar, they have used tubes with paint to make their own caterpillars pictures, they enjoyed looking at the pictures in the story, and then we used the light box to find and label different objects from the story to encourage speech. The caterpillars enjoy their books and independently sit down and look at books throughout the day and take them to the adults to read.

This week has been National Story Telling week so the children have been reading lots of stories and then participating in lots of different activities, they have read The hungry caterpillar, then they had interactive boards around the story, and made some lovely caterpillars in the playdoh, They have also read the gingerbread man, we put ginger in the playdoh, they made a gingerbread man tuff try using Weetabix and different resources talking about features and how many buttons he should have etc, we even made our own gingerbread men and decorated them. Then the children have read The tiger who came for tea, and we looked at food in the homecorner, we did shaving foam in tuff tray with tiger strips and then changed to cornflour to look at different textures, and we used paper and colouring pencils to make tiger masks.

It is also Number day so we have been looking and discussing numbers in and around the room and used the light box to light up the numbers and count how many blocks we could use to build a tower.
