If your tapes are coming out sticky, oily and covered in residue… you’re making your refits much harder than they need to be 👀

With the right products, you should be able to do a straight tape refit, row by row, without being left with that horrible sticky mess.

I usually ask my clients to arrive with their hair freshly washed and blow-dried. If they’d rather have that done in salon, absolutely fine… we just do the wash and blow-dry before starting the tape refit.

Then it’s straight into:

✨ Remove
✨ Clean
✨ Retape
✨ Refit

Row by row. No oily residue. No sticky mess. No stopping halfway through to wash everything again.

Which means quicker refits, easier appointments and ultimately more profit from your time 🙌🏼

Every year, October is my busiest month for hair extension training 👀

Summer’s over, the kids are back at school and people start thinking, “Right… what am I actually doing with the rest of this year?”

And with Christmas being one of the busiest times in the salon industry, October is the perfect time to train, practise and build your confidence before the festive rush 🎄

Whether you’re already a hairdresser or a complete beginner, my goal is for you to leave feeling confident, qualified and ready to start taking extension clients.

A full diary doesn’t always mean a profitable one. 👀

And if you’re already busy, there comes a point where “just get more clients” isn’t actually the answer.

There are only so many appointments you can squeeze into a week.

Only so late you can work.

And only so many days you actually want to spend behind the chair.

So instead of asking:

“How can I fit more clients in?”

Start asking:

“How can I earn more from the hours I’m already working?”

That’s where adding a higher-value service like hair extensions can completely change things.

Because you probably already have clients saying…

“My hair just won’t grow.”

“I wish it was thicker.”

“I want my hair to look like this…” while showing you an inspo picture their natural hair simply can’t achieve.

And right now, if you don’t offer extensions, you could actually be sending those clients somewhere else for them.

Hair extensions give you another skill, another income stream and another solution you can offer the clients already sitting in your chair.

So earning more doesn’t always have to mean working more.

Plot twist… I’m back with clients 😂🤎

A couple of months ago, stepping away from the chair genuinely felt like the right decision for me.

I’d grown a team, spent years building the salon and got to a point where stepping away from clients just felt like the natural next step, especially because I quite literally couldn’t do it all 😂

But business changes. Life changes. And sometimes what feels right changes with it.

With a few members of my team deciding to go self-employed, everything started to look a little different… and suddenly I had the opportunity to strip things back.

And honestly, it’s made me realise just how much I LOVE being behind the chair.

The transformations. The chats. The client relationships. Seeing the same people come back time and time again. That one-to-one connection is such a huge part of why I started all of this in the first place.

So I’m not looking at this as going backwards at all.

I’m looking at it as creating a version of my business that feels right for me now- still running my education business, still teaching, still coaching, but also getting back to the part of this industry I’ve always loved most.

As for the group coaching programme that I was working on, I’m not 100% sure what that looks like at the moment. It’s something I can definitely see myself bringing out in the future, but for now I’m giving myself a little space to figure out what I actually want that next version to be.

I am still available for 1-1 coaching though, so if you want support with your hair extension business, marketing, pricing, social media, confidence or anything else you feel stuck on, you can still work with me privately. 🤎

I’ve learned over the years that changing direction doesn’t mean you got the first decision wrong.

Sometimes things just change… and you change with them.

And I’m genuinely SO excited for what’s next. ✨

Sorry but I need to rant…

Some of the tape extension training out there just isn’t right 😩

I’m sick of seeing tapes fitted onto the tiniest little section of natural hair, way too close to the scalp… and then seeing that same work being shared like it’s the standard we should all be aiming for.

And yes, I mean even by some of the biggest extension brands. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just because a stylist works with a huge brand, is reposted by them or has a big following does not automatically mean the fitting is correct.

It isn’t.

And I know that might ruffle a few feathers, but when we’re working with someone’s natural hair, I think we should be able to say when something isn’t being taught or fitted properly.

Because I’m having way too many new clients come to me with discomfort, thinning, hair loss and even bald spots from incorrect fitting- and honestly, it’s horrible to see when so much of it could have been avoided with the right education.

Please pay attention if your tape fittings do not look like this 👆🏼

You’re not just taking a thin line of hair and sandwiching a tape around it.

You should be taking a proper rectangular section of natural hair so there is enough hair there to safely support the weight of the extension.

And the finer the client’s hair is, the deeper that rectangle needs to be.

Why?

Because the section needs enough density to distribute the weight properly rather than putting all that tension onto a tiny amount of natural hair.

Your placement matters too.

Tapes shouldn’t be shoved right up against the scalp. They need the correct amount of space so they can move naturally without pulling, pinching or creating unnecessary tension.

Tapes are my go-to method for a reason. When they’re fitted properly, they’re versatile, comfortable, discreet and can create the most incredible transformations.

But “easy to fit” and “fitted correctly” are two very different things.
