Y3/4 Girls Athletics

🏃‍♀️🏅 It was a pleasure for six of our Year 3/4 girls to represent school at the athletics event held at LWA. The girls enjoyed competing against teams from Valley View and Hollybush on a lovely summer's evening ☀️.

💪 They did a fantastic job in the chest push and standing long jump events before taking to the track for a series of races 🏃‍♀️. The girls showed great enthusiasm, determination and teamwork throughout the evening ⭐👏.

🎉 A great night all round – we are now looking forward to receiving the results! 🤞🏅

🐾 Year 1 have been busy exploring their exciting new topic all about animals! 🦁🐘🐧

The children have loved discovering different types of animals, learning fascinating facts, and taking part in a variety of fun, hands-on activities. Their curiosity and enthusiasm have made the start of this topic a wonderful experience, and we can't wait to see where their learning journey takes them next!

Year 1 had a wonderful time at their Teddy Bears’ Picnic today! 🧸☀️ The sun shone all day and all the bears were very well behaved. What a lovely way to celebrate all the hard work the children have put into this topic. Well done, Year 1! 🌟

This half term, Reception have been reading the story “Sam Plants a Sunflower” as part of our Growth topic. The children have been learning all about how plants grow and what they need to do to care for them. We have created some beautiful sunflower artwork in class and planted our very own seeds as part of our Sunflower Competition. The children took their plants home and have been working hard to care for them. It has been wonderful to see so many photos coming in showing how their sunflowers are growing. The children have absolutely loved sharing these with their friends and celebrating each other’s progress. Thank you to everyone for your support at home. We can’t wait to see whose sunflower grows the tallest!

In year 2, we have been investigating different media and discovered a local artist called Bob Barker, whose work is always dark with only a small amount of colour. We were inspired by his style and created our own pieces, using all the skills we have learned, such as using a viewfinder to focus on a particular area and using a variety of pencils with different densities. We have even learned how to angle our pencils to achieve shading, and best of all, we used our fingers for smudging. It was great fun!

A huge congratulations to all of our amazing Year 6 children for their incredible effort and determination during SATs week!

The children have all worked exceptionally hard throughout the entire year, showing resilience, positivity and a fantastic attitude every step of the way. As a school, we could not be prouder of each and every one of them. Thank you to all of our families for the support that you have shown!

After a busy week, the children thoroughly enjoyed a well-deserved afternoon of samba, laughter and time outdoors — making the most of the sunshine in between the rain and hail showers!

Well done, Year 6 — you are all superstars!

🏏 We were incredibly proud to take a team of 8 children to the Rounders Competition at LWA this week! 🌟

For many of the children, this was their very first experience of playing rounders competitively, and they represented the school brilliantly throughout the event. 👏

The team showed fantastic determination, teamwork and encouragement for one another, supporting each other every step of the way 🤝💙 A special mention goes to JDW for some superb hitting during the matches! 💥🏏

Well done to all involved for embracing the experience with such enthusiasm and positivity — you should all be very proud of yourselves! ⭐🎉
