Really fun year 10 lesson learning about image representation using pixels and vectors with the Pico some of them decided to see if they could program more than one screen. Led to learning about I2c protocol and even viewing documents. 8 weeks ago I was teaching these guys how to print hello world to screen!

The calculations done by these women “human computers” where extremely complex and often done under extreme pressure. These ladies had to retrain to use some the the first ever electronic computers. Women have definitely earnt thier places in tech.
Today we want to honor the legacy of and “human computer” Dorothy VVaughan, who passed away . Vaughn was the first African-American female supervisor of NACA, which later became NASA, and her calculations helped put the first people on the moon.

Coming soon I am delivering session on using the Pico to strengthen students understanding of data representation. During the session, we will look at images sounds and compression using micro python and pico. For those who have a pico, we will run through some code, using Thonny. The sessions are free, but donations to the charity are always welcome.
Data Representation with the Pico | Digitall Whether you're new to Raspberry Pi or seeking to deepen your skills, this hands-on event offers a unique opportunity to enhance your understanding of data manipulation. Led by Tina Fountain.

A prototype of year 9 project using the RP2040 Pico we will build some games while learning python and some theory of how computers work including data representation and they will get to design the case and hopefully take them home to keep them developing. I have really enjoyed designing this unit ready for this year.
