Just seen this at The Works for £20.
I challenge you to make your own!
Hi, I'm Rachael, teacher and mum to a 7 year old. I started making sensory trays to share with others how to enjoy sensory play.
However since starting back with full time job, I now just share some ideas I get up to with my daughter.

More experiments...
First we added 6 tbsp of baking soda into a bottle, filled a balloon with 2 tbsp of baking soda. Then you lift the balloon up to release the baking soda into the vinegar which makes a gas that inflates the balloon. We talked about gases and reactions. I modelled the language and she answered questions using new vocabulary.
Next up we did the egg shell dissolving trick, we needed to submerge the egg in white vinegar and let it sit for 3 days so we will await the results. We predicted what we thought might happen even though the book already told us it will go rubbery, we described it in a bit more detail and meaning.
We were discussing what dissolve means and I mentioned pennies so did a quick Google to check it was the same mixture. It wasn't so we added some salt and vinegar into a cup, found some dirty pennies and put them in. Within second we could see the dirt dissolve. Now we could see what else we could dissolve.

Experiment from a school book.
You need: an ice cube, a piece of thread and a tsp of salt.
You place the thread on the ice cube and then bring it up, noting how nothing happened.
Then you place the thread on the ice cube again, cover with salt, wait a few seconds and when you lift it the ice cube should lift with it.
It didn't.
We tried different ice cubes, different salt and even different thread. Nothing. Although it didn't work we explored different ways to change the experiment and discussed why with thibk it wasn't successful which wasn't actually more beneficial.
If you want to try, let me know if you succeed!

Curiosity cube.
This has a curious thing inside to inspire language and written skills. The idea is the object will trigger questions that the children can discuss and record some ideas.
This week's 'treasure' seems the most popular so far.

Coin recognition. Nice interactive game and till. They also used this to play shops.
Lots of language for maths and play, turn taking, number recognition, number matching and a little chance for motor skills by picking up, putting down and pressing.

Week 1 done and this little tray went down well. Digits are written underneath the ducks so when they hook-a-duck they can find the corresponding amount and number word.

Hello everyone.
How have the summer holidays been?
I am ready to get back to work next week where my class will be starting with continous provision and I will be sharing some of the activities I do with Year 1.
I realise I haven't posted for a while so here is today's focus, led by Izzy and her imagination...playdough.
We can cook and serve and practice the things customers say, we can talk about shapes we make and of course develop those fine motor skills.

5 years old and still loves water play!
Child led after rediscovering the measuring beakers in an open cupboard then asked for all the extras or collected herself.
Currently playing 'selling lemonade'.

We bought some make yourself kits over Easter. These were pretty affordable from Wilkos but easy to recreate yourself at home. The keyring were easy for Izzy after lots of threading activities, really helps with those fine motor skills. And the badges could easily be reused and remade with a little imagination.

Quick game today.
If you can say it you can colour it.
Words, sounds, numbers, shapes, colours...works with whatever you are working on.
